Johannes Petrus Boshoff
Summary: After finishing his BA Hons (1982), Boshoff taught Afrikaans language and literature to
both children and adults at mainly private institutions for about nine (9) years in total, during which
time his career as an academic writer took off, writing 14 books on all aspects of matric Afrikaans.
Thereafter, Boshoff, for about 13 years in total, became translator and language editor (Afrikaans,
English), specializing in legal translation on all aspects of government and the editing of writing on
business. Additionally, he more fully established himself as Afrikaans and English writer in various
literary and non-literary genres and styles and did publicity/marketing work for various artists and
groups. Currently, Boshoff is a full-time writer who freelances as journalist, translator and language
editor (Afrikaans, English). Boshoff also leads a non-denominational ministry, called Wewale, with
him directing silent retreats and occasionally acting as lay preacher. He also used to act
(publicity/marketing) agent for, e.g., composer Isak Roux (and for his self-published publications).
