GRAAD 6 Afrikaans (Eerste Addisionele Taal) (Term 2 – Overview) This term we will cover Chapter 3 and Chapter 6 in the textbook. (Afrikaans Sonder Grense or ASG for short). (Chapter 3: Moenie mors nie!) (Chapter 6: Diereavonture) During lessons we discuss various language structures, rules and application thereof. Once the children understand the rules they will get tasks to complete. These tasks also form part of the continuous assessment for the term. The focus for the term is to improve reading, listening and conversational skills. The children will have two orals. Unprepared: (i) Beskryf die item. (Describe the item. I give them an object. They get ten minutes to prepare simple sentences. I give them sentences on the board to guide them when preparing this oral.) Prepared: TIPS FOR ORALS: (ii) Sprokies en Fabels (Fairytales and Fabels) This topic was chosen, because it is stories they are familiar with in their own language. This will make it easier for them to understand the storyline. (Keep the sentences short and in chronological order.) 1. 2. 3. 4. Gather information Write the oral. (Eliminate difficult words) Use short basic sentences. (This is easier to remember.) Read the oral a few times and make sure you understand the meaning of all words and sentences. Make cue cards containing only one or two words. Practice, practice, practice (Also work on tone and pronunciation whilst practicing.) 5. 6. 7.
