During this course, students will study, demonstrate growth, and understand the following areas as outlined by the College Board: Review topics in Calculus AB Fundamental theorems of calculus, integration by parts, Euler’s method, Logistic Growth model, length of a curve, and surface area. Infinite series: geometric series, power series, harmonic series, Taylor’s series, Maclaurin’s series, Lagrange form of remainder, alternating series, tests for divergence and convergence. Integration of parametric, polar, and vector curves: finding area, arc length, and surface area parametric and polar curves. Course requirements: Calculus textbook: Calculus – Graphical, Numerical, Algebraic 3rd Edition by Finney, Demana, Waits, and Kennedy.(provided) Graphing calculator: preferably TI 84+ or higher. Reading assignments must be completed before class lectures/discussions. Academic Expectations: Assignments will be given and collected on the day quiz/test is taken. Students are expected to make up assignments, quizzes, and tests, due to excused absences. Students are required to take notes during class and put all returned assignments in a folder for future use. Quizzes and tests will be given in each chapter. Grades will be based on classwork/homework (20%), quizzes and tests (70%), and final exam (10%). Grading scale: A= 93-100% A- = 90-92% B+= 87-89% B = 83-86% B- = 80-82% C+= 77-79% C = 73-76% C- = 70-72% D+= 67-69% D = 63-66% D-= 60-62% F= below 60% Classroom/School Expectations (see student handbook) Students will demonstrate respect for themselves and others and follow all school policies. Food, drinks, headgear, coats, toys, and electronic devices (except calculators) are NOT allowed in the classroom. Students will attend class and be on time. Detention must be served if late to class. Classroom participation, note taking, and wise use of time are expected. Students will be charged for any damage or loss of classroom materials (books, calculators, etc.,) they use. Getting Help: I am more than willing to give help outside of class time. I am generally available before and after school room 131, but it is your responsibility to check with me before you come in. It is important that you get help before you fall too far behind.
