A: Quizzes are NOT announced and are closely related to the assignments. Once an assignment is due, a quiz can be given about that work. Quizzes can also include past work. You will be given advanced notice of when a test is given. Expect a test every other week. Q: When are assignments due? A: Assignments are due TWO days after they are given so there is a chance to ask questions and go over the work. Questions can be asked only on the day after the assignment was given. This means the assignment needs to be completed the same day it was assigned! When the assignment is due, it is expected that ALL problems are complete. Q: How am I expected to participate in class? A: You are not allowed to say “I don’t know” in this class when asked a question. You are not required to know, but you are expected to think. So if I ask you a question and you don’t know the answer, you are responsible to think of an answer, to guess, to speculate, and to wonder aloud. I expect all students to take clear and complete notes, fully participate in any group activities, and go to the board to complete problems at some point. Q: What happens if I am absent? A: Check the website in the late afternoon for the notes and assignment missed. CalI, text, or email one of your classmates for the work missed. If work was checked while you were absent, it will be checked when the assignment packet is turned in. Do not bring your absent work to me asking for me to check it. Q: If I miss a test/quiz, will I be allowed to make it up? A: Definitely. You will be expected to make up the test/quiz the day you return from the absence and it will be during the period. Q: If I still don’t get the lesson even if the teacher explained it a couple of times, what must I do? A: 1. Attend tutoring at nutrition and/or lunch. 2. Ask one of your classmates for help. 3. Look up the topic online and find some videos about it. 4. Go to the links page of my website for places where you might find help. Q: When is tutoring? A: As of right now, tutoring will be at nutrition and lunch. I strongly suggest attending the AP Readiness program at UCLA. It is one Saturday per month. These are the dates: 9/19, 10/17, 11/14, 12/12, 1/30, 2/27, 4/2, 4/23. There is a large variety of topics presented from different teachers.
