GOAL: Enable Students to appreciate the beauty of Calculus and receive a strong foundation
that will give them the tools to succeed in future mathematics courses.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Calculus is a college preparatory course. This course continues Pre-Calculus from the concept
of Limits onward. The course will cover, but is not limited to Functions, Graphs, Limits,
Applications of Derivatives, Anti-derivatives, and Integrals.
It is expected that students have a strong knowledge of Pre-Calculus and Algebra II Concepts.
These skills will not be reviewed, but built upon during this course curriculum.
I will be preparing you for the self-enabled environment of a College Student.

Course calendar will be posted in class. This will include the timing of all assignments, quizzes
and tests.

 My classroom is a cell phone free room. All cell phones will be secured prior to lectures starting,
and will not be available until the class has completed. Please have your parents contact your
house office in the event of an emergency.
 Keep your work area neat and clean with all books and bags under the table and out of the aisle.
Take care of equipment and books as if they were your own. Please do not mark on equipment,
books and tables/desks in the classroom.
 Lecture Outlines and Assignments will be available at the teacher’s website. It is expected to be
reviewed prior to class, along with the text book to begin comprehension of the material.

Explanation of the notes and examples will be worked during the class. Students will have
approximately 30-45 minutes of class time on most days to start/complete homework.
Home-work will be either assigned out of the textbook or through classroom handouts. All
homework is directly taken from the text book problems at the end of the section being taught. All
Test Reviews are directly from the text book end of chapter reviews.
Rework and reassessments must be completed within one week of the original assessment date.
It is expected that both the teacher and the students will arrive for class organized and prepared.
The classroom is a shared supplies room. Please make sure you are ready to start learning at the
beginning of each class (when the bell rings).
Students are expected to prepare in advance for planned absences (such as field trips, extracurricular activities) and to make up all missed assignments upon return to class after an unplanned
absence. It is the student’s responsibility to ask the teacher for make-up work upon returning to
class. It is the teacher’s responsibility to record make-up work for students absent from class.
Use a pencil on all assignments, quizzes, and tests. Work in pen will not be graded and will be
returned to the student to rework in pencil.
Show all work on assignments, quizzes, and tests.
All Assessments will be kept in a secured file cabinet and available for rework, and referenced
throughout the school year.
Water is allowed in the classroom but please do not bring food or other drinks to class.
SUPPLIES
A 3 ring Binder, Plastic Tab Dividers, and ruled 3 hole punched paper will be required to
organize and keep notes, handouts and homework. I recommend a smaller binder per 9 weeks
to make it manageable to carry to class. These will be great resources for your students in
College.
