Denise highlighted an example of the group’s letter to the RNABC regarding the timeframe for experienced NPs Prior Learning Assessment Review. Canadian Nurse Practitioner Initiative review. Rose Mary Graham NP representative on the Canadian Nurse Practitioner Initiative Advisory Committee (CNPIAC) Nurse Practitioner Council of Canada reviewed. The mandate of the Nurse Practitioner Council of Canada (NPCC) is to promote sustainable, integrated, comprehensive nurse practitioner practice by providing an expert, representative voice for nurse practitioners; to enhance nurse practitioner professional development; and to promote the health of Canadians by advocating for human health issues. Action Plan Leads Nomination of group members to participate in April 22 focus groups Done Natasha BC CNS Practice Interest Group has extended an invitation for a NP ad hoc member to join their executive. The interest group has applied to change the name to the Advance Practice Nurse group. But due to the regulatory Faye Forrester will be the ad hoc representative for the BCNPA Natasha to remain BC representative on the council. changes of RNABC to the College of Registered Nurses of BC, the RNABC has blocked the name change. The BCNPA at this point will remain separate group because of the many outstanding issues facing NPs. 6 Natasha Gloria 7 Natasha and group 8 Group Natasha has contacted the RNABC regarding the BCMA response to the draft regulations for registered nurses and Nurse practitioners. Many nursing leaders have posted a response to their web site response eg. Debra Macpherson, Mary Ellen Purkins and Diane Clements. Karen Kline was contacted, at this time the RNABC does not require a supportive statement from our group. BCMA would like to form a one multi-disciplinary group reviewing the NP implementation. Diagnosis should be nurse practitioner diagnosis. They are purposing a limited drug and laboratory list similar to Ontario. The group name is British Columbia Nurse Practitioner Association. It is an informal group with two co-chairs and a secretary. The goals of the group were reviewed. See attached document. The group discussed possible methods to maintain contact with NPs located outside the lower mainland and expand membership. Natasha Prodan Bhalla will remain a co-chair. Victoria Stafford will continue as secretary. We need another co-chair if any one is interested. Natasha had placed an announcement in the RNABC magazine. Michelle Bech with Denise Tarlier to lead an Website development committee. Victoria Stafford to contact UBC who developed website proposal Done 9 Group The group discussed the possibility of a response to the BCMA statement and development of a communication plan. 10 Victoria Looking for volunteers for the upcoming Observed Skills Clinical Examination at the UBC school of Nursing. All NPs registering in BC are required to complete an OSCE as part of the examination process for the RNABC. project Diane Middagh volunteers to chair a communication group.
