This will increase when studying for tests is included. Homework is generally taken in for marks. EXTRA HELP: Extra help is available by your teacher, study guides, tutors and commercial exam prep sessions. Get extra help during class when possible. If additional time is needed, your teacher can usually help you after school or at noon. ATTENDANCE: Excellent attendance is a vital component to success in any course. LATES AND MISSED EVALUATIONS: Students are responsible for finding out what they missed if they are absent. Late assignments will have 10% deducted each day for up to two days only. If a student has been inexcusably absent, a mark of zero will be awarded for any inclass evaluation due that day. If a student is excusably absent for a major exam (any unit, midterm or practice final exam), they must make sure that the absence is made valid with a parental phone call within 24 HOURS of the absence. If a one-class excused absence occurs on a test or a quiz day, then the student will make this up the following day at noon hour. If there is a more extended excused absence, then when to make up missed tests/quizzes will be determined on the students’ return to class. Any missed In-Class evaluations will be awarded a mark of zero, regardless of reason. CLASSROOM CONDUCT: Success in any Science course is achieved only by following some very basic behaviours: listening and participating in class, writing down a complete and organized set of notes, being prepared for class by having done the homework, and coming in with the necessary supplies, refraining from leaving the classroom for bathroom breaks, and generally behaving mannerly so that everyone else can also learn.
