The General Paik, Sun Yup Leadership Award Board will convene on 28 March 2008 (immediately following the Sergeant Audie Murphy Board), location is the IMCOM-Korea Region, Command Conference Room (BLDG, S-4329). Transportation must be provided by the nominating unit. Lodging is available on a space A basis at the Walker Center located on South Post, Yongsan. The General Paik, Sun Yup Leadership Award is a reward earned by exceptional noncommissioned officers whose achievements and performance merit special recognition. The General Paik Sun Yup Leadership Award is a means of recognizing those KATUSA Soldier NCOs who have contributed significantly to the development of a professional NCO Corps and a combat ready Army. Awardees exemplify leadership characterized by personal concern for the needs, training, development and welfare of both ROK and US Soldiers and concern for families of Soldiers. 3. PROCEDURES: a. Commanders who recommend KATUSA Soldier NCOs for membership in the General Paik Sun Yup Leadership Program will screen and evaluate candidates prior to appearance before the IMCOM-K level selection board. A sample format for the commander’s evaluation/nomination is at appendix C, EUSA Reg 672-5. b. The General Paik Sun Yup performance test is based on recorded accomplishments of the candidate and his/her subordinates (when applicable) and must be attached as an enclosure to the commander’s evaluation/nomination (use sample in Appendix H, EUSA Reg 672-3). c. Initial Selection Board. Conduct a Battalion and Brigade-level Initial Selection Board (Candidates will have 60 days remaining as a KATUSA Soldier in the ROKA). d. Nominees & their escorts will wear ACU’s/BDU’s. e. Nominees will bring their leaders book for review by the board members. NOMINATION PACKETS FOR GEN PAIK SUN YUP LEADERSHIP BOARD CANDIDATES: (Packets must be organized in the following order) a. 5x7 photo in BDU/ACU b. Commander’s Evaluation/Nomination c. Chain of Command recommendations (as a minimum the 1SG, Battalion CSM, and Brigade CSM) d. Candidate’s Bio (in English and Hangul) e. Copy of current Weapons Qualification Scorecard f. Copy of APFT Score Card g. Verified Height and Weight Data, current within 3 days (sign by 1SG or Cdr) h. General Paik Sun Yup Performance Test i. Bde Level Board Results (Scorecard) j. One-page essay, written by the candidate in his/her own words on any Army Value NOTE: Submit packet in a white 1 inch binder with document protectors in the order listed above. Nomination packets are due by 17 March 2008 prior to 1600 hours. Submit completed packets to MSG Henry, Meesoon C., Bldg 4331, Yongsan (see enclosed map). LATE PACKETS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. 5. MSC's CSM’s are designated board members. Uniform for board members will be BDU’s/ACU’s. If you are unable to attend, notify CSM Kevin N. Witt to be excused no later than two days prior to the board. It is the responsibility of the MSC CSM to designate an appropriate board member if he/she is excused.
