MEMORANDUM FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION
SUBJECT: Memorandum of Instruction (MOI), NCO/Soldier of the Quarter Board 1st Qtr FY
2008
1. Purpose: This MOI prescribes the procedures for the selection of the 2d Signal Brigade
NCO/Soldier of the Quarter Candidates. The 2d Signal Brigade NCO/Soldier of the Quarter
Board will convene at 0800, 14 Febuary 2008. All board members will assemble at the Water
Tower Conference Room, Building 109 (30 min prior).
2. Nominee Packets: Soldiers who are selected to appear before the NCO/Soldier of the
Quarter Board will have (7) completed packets to include the original. Packets will be
placed in a binder and tabbed. Please have binders put together before arriving. Soldiers’
packets should include the following documentation:
a. Letter of recommendation from the Soldier’s Sergeant Major
b. Biographical Data Sheet
c. ERB
d. PT scorecard (DA Form 705) – must be within 12 months from the date of the board
e. Weapons scorecard - must be within 6 months from the date of the board
f. Completed Hometown News Release (DD Form 2266)
g. One Page Essay (Three things that you would change if you were the Sergeant
Major of the Army)
h. Photo in Class A Uniform 8x10 – the winner’s original picture will be used for the
Brigade’s Recognition Display
3.
Leaders Book: Sponsors and NCOs will bring their leader’s book.
4. Uniform: Class A’s will be the uniform for candidates and sponsors. Duty Uniform will be
worn by Board members.
5. Order of Merit: NCOs will compete first, followed by Junior Soldiers (E-4 and below). Each
group will compete in alphabetical order by last name. The board members will ask attendees
a minimum of two questions per topic area.
6. Winners: The winners of the 2d Signal Brigade NCO/Soldier of the Quarter Board will
participate in a 2d Signal Brigade Year Board to select the NCO/Soldier who will represent 2d
Signal Brigade at the 5th Signal Command NCO/Soldier of the Year Board at Funari Barracks,
Mannheim Germany.
