FACULTY HIGHLIGHTS
Therapeutic Riding; Ground breaking center expands in more ways than
one
Texas Tech’s Therapeutic Riding Center (TTRC) broke ground today (June 14) on phase
one of a three-phase project to construct a new therapeutic riding, teaching and
research facility. Once completed, the expanded facility will feature an indoor riding
area, classrooms and waiting rooms.

Day for Diplomas; CASNR students featured at Spring commencement
A record 3,281 Texas Tech students, including 149 from the College of Agricultural
Sciences and Natural Resources, received diplomas at the university’s commencement
ceremonies May 14-15 at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock. more »
In Profile: Mindy Brashears’ Emerging Formula for Food Safety
Mindy Brashears has a passion for providing safer foods for consumers through new
treatments to reduce food-borne pathogens. “I came back to Texas Tech not just to be in
the ‘Top 10’ or ‘Top 5,’ but to have the best program in food safety,” said the professor
in Tech’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences. more »

Learning Experience: NSR internships go to CASNR standouts
Research, persistence and networking helped land two CASNR students highly-sought
internships this summer with the National Swine Registry, one of the nation’s leading
swine breed organizations. Texas Tech’s Kirby Carpenter and Josh Flohr were selected
from a highly competitive pool of applicants, officials with the West Lafayette, Ind.based group said. more »
Kenyan scholar athlete project eyes expansion to Texas Tech
Standing in front of a Texas Tech classroom, Michael Boit’s status as a former Olympian
medalist gives him a certain cachet as he outlines the Kenya Scholar Athlete Project
(KenSAP), a charity that identifies and mentors gifted athletes from rural, disadvantaged
tribes who’ve exhibited superior intellect and potential for academic study in the United
