Radiating Christ
Dear Jesus,
Help me to spread your fragrance
Everywhere I go.
Flood my soul with Your Spirit and Life.
Penetrate and possess my whole being
So utterly that my life may only be
A radiance of Yours.
Shine through me and be so in me
That every soul I come in contact with
May feel Your presence in my soul.
Let them look up,
And see no longer me, but only Jesus!
Stay with me and then I will begin
To shine as You shine,
So to shine as to be a light to others.
The light, O Jesus will be all from You;
None of it will be mine.
It will be You, shining on others through me.
Let me thus praise You
In the way You love best,
By shining on those around me.
Let me preach You without preaching,
Not by words but by example,
By the catching force,
The sympathetic influence of what I do,
The evident fullness of the love
My heart bears for You. Amen.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 9th 2007 (YEAR C) 23rd WEEK OF YEAR
Dear Parishioners,
Today’s Gospel highlights the cost of being a Christian. God has created us
free. Nothing must come between Him and us. Yet we sometimes have an
inordinate affection for worldly possessions. Through the correct use of
freedom we are given the privilege of being sons of God and escape remaining
slaves of the world. (Pope John Sunday Missal)
The Friday evening Mass this week will include the Sacrament of the
Anointing of the Sick. If you have a serious illness or a long-term condition
such as Diabetes you are welcome to receive this Sacrament.
This coming Thursday we will hold a Baptismal Preparation Evening at
8.00pm. in the Parish Hall. You are welcome to attend.
We look forward to celebrating the first Mass of a new school term at
St.Augustine’s this Tuesday morning at 9.30am.
The Society for Protection of Unborn Children (S.P.U.C.) has written to us
asking if we would contact our M.P.s in respect of the government’s draft
Human Tissue and Embryos Bill. Their concern is that should the Bill become
law it will lead to the creation of cloned human-animal embryos and also
allow the genetic modification of human embryos for research. Our M.P.s are
Lorely Burt and Caroline Spellman and may be contacted at: The House of
Commons, London SW1 1AA There are some flyers available for you.
Father Sean will be taking part in the pilgrimage to Medjugorje starting this
Thursday. If you would like him to take some petitions for you please hand
them in by Thursday morning. Please do not place any money in with the
petition.
Finally, please keep in mind the 3rd Birmingham Diocesan Justice and Peace
assembly which will take place at St.Peter’s School on Saturday 13th October
10.00am.-4.00pm. Further details later.
