He is that joyful messenger to Zion who shouts without fear: ‘Here is your God. Here is the Lord coming with power!’ May we take to heart John’s call to repentance so that our joy may be evident to all whose lives we share. Congratulations and thanks to all of you for your help in making our Christmas Fayre such a happy and successful occasion. The monies from the Raffle and the sales at the Fayre itself have raised £1,900. Another £1,000 has been raised from the CAFOD lunches. Along with private donations, we will be able to forward a cheque to CAFOD for over £4,000.Thanks to all who organised the Fayre it was a lovely occasion. A list of prize winners for the Raffle will be available. This weekend we are distributing the second edition of the ‘Augustinian’, our Parish magazine. It costs £1.00. Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess we have lost our thirst for the waters of life; having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity and in our efforts to build a new earth, we have allowed our vision of the new Heaven to dim. Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas where storms will show your mastery; where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask You to push back the horizons of our hopes; and to push into the future in strength, courage, hope, and love.
