You must meet the Christian Secondary School Diploma Requirements (see www.qchs.ca > student resources > guidance > CSSD requirements)
b)
Research potential post-secondary education admission requirements – plan for / or select those courses (eg. 6 4U/Ms for University)
c)
Ensure that you will have the required 30 credits by your planned graduation date

IMPORTANT QCHS PROGRAM INFORMATION: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
1/ Physics and Chemistry Information:
--Chemistry 3U and 4C are offered every year. (Note: Chem4C has Science2 applied or academic as a
prerequisite. Please also note, there is no Chem3C – it does not exist)
-- Chemistry 4U is offered every other year, ie. Chem4U will be offered this year and then in 2015-16.
-- Physics 3U, 4C and 4Uare offered every other year. ie. Physics 3U, 4C and 4U will be offered in 2014-2015,
then in 2016-2017. (Note: Physics4C has Science2 applied or academic as a prerequisite. And, there is no
Physics3C course, it does not exist)
-- The prerequisites for Chemistry4U and Physics4U are the 3U level of the same course. The prerequisites for
the 3U level of these courses is Science2 Academic.
2/ Math3C and Math4C are offered in alternating years. Math4C will be offered in 2013-2014. It is intended that
grade 11 and 12 College level Math students will all take Math4C in 2013-2014. Math3C will be offered in 20142015.
3/ “The Writer’s Craft 4U” is offered in alternating years with “English Literature 4U”. ie. The Writer’s Craft4U
will be offered in 2014-2015.
4/ All grade 11 students must take World Religions 3M in their grade 11 year.
5/ Co-ops are only available in 2nd semester. To enroll in a co-op, please speak with Mr. Smeenk in the
fall semester, before November 1st
6/ “Advanced Functions 4U” is a prerequisite for “Calculus and Vectors 4U”. You cannot take “Calculus
&Vectors 4U” if you do not have “Advanced Functions 4U” first. (Note: technically you are allowed to take them
concurrently)
7/ Shop3C/Welding is open first to grade 12 students, and has a limited capacity. If there is room available after
the grade 12 choices are made, grade 11s will be permitted to enroll on a first come first served basis.
8/ Shop4E/Canoe-woodworking has a requirement of Shop3C Construction, or significant experience with woodworking tools and techniques. Students must be approved by the instructor prior to being officially accepted into
this course. Priority is given to grade 12 students, due to the 5 person maximum capacity.

10/ As you plan your high school education keep in mind that you must have:
a) All the required courses for the Christian Secondary School Diploma (CSSD) – see the guidance website for this list
b) A total of 30 credits (Required by the Ministry of Education of Ontario)
c) 40 hours of community service (Required by the Ministry of Education of Ontario)
d) Passed the Literacy test (Required by the Ministry of Education of Ontario)
e) All the courses required for your post-secondary plans. (These requirements are set by each individual College and
University. Note: One requirement that applies to all Ontario Universities is 6 credits at either the 4U or 4M level)
