the table in the Hall. Thank you, so much for the excellent decorations this year –
they were greatly admired.
TESCO VOUCHER SCHEME
A big thank you to everyone who continues to support our Tesco voucher scheme,
which has benefited our parish finances enormously. However, some new
parishioners may not know how this scheme works. Do you shop at Tesco’s?
Would you like to help the parish funds by simply buying a Tesco gift voucher for
its face value? You will only pay the price of the voucher and not a penny more
but the parish will benefit from the sale. Vouchers are on sale, before and after
each weekend mass. If you need any more information on how the scheme
works, please see Fr. John or Mary Hallett
CONFIRMATION 2015
Young people who will be in at least Year 9 from September 2014 are invited to
give some thought to registering for Confirmation in 2015. If you attend Mass
here in Ware regularly then please see Fr. John to talk about registering for the
next preparation.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2015 - 18th to the 25th January
The Well is Deep
This year's theme comes from the churches of Brazil. Brazilians, who have
traditionally been tolerant of their various social classes & ethnic groups, are now
living through a time of growing intolerance made manifest in high levels of
violence, especially against minorities and the vulnerable.
The Brazilian churches have begun to recognise that intolerance should be dealt
with in a positive way - respecting diversity and promoting dialogue as a
permanent path of reconciliation and peace in fidelity to the gospel. Jesus
challenges us to acknowledge that diversity is part of God's design, to approach
one another in trust and to see the face of God in the face of all men and women.

FAMILY PLANNING – GOD’S WAY – NATURE’S WAY
The Billings Ovulation Method of Natural Family Planning is 99% effective in
avoiding pregnancy with no side effects. This method is also very helpful for
couples having difficulty conceiving and is a natural alternative to IVF. A clinic is
held by arrangement at St Joseph’s Church Hall, Hertford. For appointments
email info@billingsmethodhertford.org.uk or visit
www.billingsmethodhertford.org.uk.
IF YOU GO IN TO HOSPITAL:
Catholics in hospital are unlikely to receive an automatic visit from the Catholic
Chaplain, as this information is now systematically withheld from Chaplains. If
someone is sick in hospital, please let us know here at the presbytery, or ask
the staff on the ward, so that your loved one can be visited whilst in hospital, and
receive Holy Communion and any other Sacraments from the Chaplain.

I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD
99. Q. What happened at the Last Supper?
A.
Jesus washed the feet of his apostles on the evening before his death; he
instituted the Eucharist and founded the priesthood of the New Covenant. Jesus
showed his consummate love in three ways: He washed his disciples’ feet and
showed that he is among us as one who serves. He symbolically anticipated his
redeeming Passion by speaking these words over the gifts of bread and wine:
“This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” Likewise
the chalice after supper, saying, “This chalice which is poured out for you is the
new covenant in my blood” (Lk 22:19). In this way he instituted the Holy
Eucharist. When Jesus commanded the Apostles, “Do this in remembrance of
me” (1 Cor 11:24b), he made them priests of the New Covenant.
