Pippin features an all teen cast age 12-18 as a present day theatre troupe that tells a tongue-in-cheek story about the son of the 8th-Century King Charlemagne. On his quest to find his true calling in life and complete fulfillment, Pippin tries war, love, politics, and other pursuits before settling down. The energetic pop-influenced score by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked) bursts with show stopping numbers, from soaring ballads to infectious dance grooves, all performed by 25 local teens. -more- Page Two…Village Theatre’s KIDSTAGE Teen Select Presents Pippin A Village Theatre KIDSTAGE first, Pippin will be performed in the round. While KIDSTAGE audiences typically sit in the 500 seat Everett Performing Arts Center Auditorium, Pippin audiences will be seated on stage in a newly created 200 seat theatre in the round, constructed specifically for Pippin. Audience members will be no more than three rows back from the action. And in some cases, audiences will become part of the musical. At times, actors will be in front, behind, next to, and even above the audience, providing audiences with a truly one-of-a-kind theatre experience. Directed by a Joel Waage and choreographed by Mo Brady, Pippin springs to life with musical direction by Troy Wageman; lighting design by William McCoubrey; and Costume Coordination by Tara Slosberg. KIDSTAGE Teen Select is a program for advanced students to train at a professional level under the mentorship of professional theatre instructors, designers, and directors. The intensive rehearsal process includes script analysis, character development, learning chorography and staging, and strengthening the vocal instrument. The result of this program is a fully produced musical that runs two weeks. About Village Theatre KIDSTAGE: Designed to encourage teamwork, personal integrity, self-esteem and a life-long appreciation for live theatre, KIDSTAGE is a year-round performing arts training program in Issaquah, Everett and Stanwood for young people ages 3-20. KIDSTAGE students participate in classes, workshops and full-scale KIDSTAGE productions. All performances are by KIDSTAGE students and classes are taught by professional theatrical instructors.
