Oracle Developer/Consultant (Oracle 11i Financials)
Tasked with the analysis, design and implementation of two extensions for a Oracle Federal Financials installation at
TMA (Tricare Medical Activity) a Division of the DOD (Department of Defense). The first extension was an
interface for reporting to the Credit Bureau agencies. Purpose was to extract data from the AR module identified
for reporting to three Credit Bureaus and consisted of one package with several procedures/functions, a table and two
reports. Recommended using Electronic Data Exchange to replace current reporting using USPS for costs savings.
The second extension was an FTP interface to DFAS (Defense Finance Accounting Services) for extracting data
from the GL module that included one package, several procedures/functions and a Form, a Report and two views.
Research included the identification of flex field, table and view values within the database. Other duties included
application registration of custom extensions in the Financial System and entering jobs into concurrent manager.

April 2001 – June 2001
Oracle Developer/Contractor
Tasked with multiple duties, PC Tech, NT Admin, Oracle DBA, Designer, Developer and Trainer to complete this
contract with Qwest in 3 months. The contract was to build a data entry system for a Data Mart to represent 17
different business areas. Requirements included an entry interface using a web browser running Oracle Forms and
Reports 6i. Due to client restrictions it was necessary to replicate their system at the contractor’s office. My
involvement included PC upgrades, installation and Administration of the NT Network and Oracle 8i Database.
Additionally I worked on the design and development of the client entry system. Initial database design was
provided by client and was based on OLTP processing and I recommended changes based on Ralph Kimball’s
Dimensional Modeling to improve data acquisition from the completed system. Development work included a PLL
library module for a same look and feel in the Form applications system.

Tasked with GUI development and data ETL (Extract Transform Load) for several Data Marts. The GUI
development consisted of Form Report development for the Underwriting Staff using the Data Warehouse. Reports
created using Oracle Reports 2.5 and converted to Oracle Reports 6.0. A request screen was developed for running
reports and two maintenance screens using Forms 6i. Assisted with the data modeling design using Ralph Kimball’s
Dimensional Modeling theory. Data mapping included documentation of the data scrub rules based on user
requirements. Development tasks included data loading using SQLLoader data scrubbing using PL/SQL, Triggers
and UNIX Korn Shell scripts. Other work included design revisions, performance tuning using explain plans, UNIX
sort scripts for pre-processing flat files and table partitioning. Additional duties included development and
maintenance of a quality control system for the Data Warehouse, CRMS and HEDIS claim reporting systems and
Data Warehouse base table loading.

Created and maintained reports in an OLTP environment Used Crystal Reports in a multi-tiered database system
located on multiple HP UNIX environments within a Windows NT network. Other work including analyzing reports,
creating user requirements, distributing work to other team members, developing proposed work deadlines, training
new hires and using SQL on a Oracle database to perform research requirements. Also worked with another team
member to implement the GUI version of Appworx a job scheduling software system.

Created and maintained user applications within a OLTP environment. A member of the team tasked with
converting an insurance business information system located on an IBM System 36 to a UNIX AIX36 platform and
Oracle database. Tools used in conversion included RAD/JAD sessions for design and development, Oracle Forms
4.5, SQR3, Pro C, PL/SQL, Triggers and Discoverer. Performed software administration of a job scheduler
(Appworx) software to upgrade to a Windows version from a UNIX version. Reversed engineered several hundred
applications into Designer. Performed SQL Tuning SQL based on results from running explain plans. Data
conversion included data scrubbing and loading data into the Oracle Database.
