JOB PROFILE: Database Administrator Company: Department: BankservAfrica IT & Operations Reports to: Subordinates: none JOB PURPOSE Objective: This position will primarily support BankservAfrica’s data warehouse storage environment for daily operations, trouble shooting, Architecture, design, and long term planning, and implements physical database back-ups, recovery programs and archiving functions. A typical work day would include monitoring and reporting on environments while providing support on project and request items as well as supporting outages and related countermeasures. This is done through reviewing and prioritizing the daily work schedule, monitoring and adjusting project schedules/open issues/action items, preparing status updates on areas where improvement opportunities have been discovered and require implementation, as well as contact with stakeholders on work schedules, deliverables, architecture, and break fix items. Competencies: 5+ years actively supporting/maintain an enterprise database infrastructure, broad work experience including administration, engineering and architecture in Enterprise environments. At least 5 years of experience supporting BI/Data warehousing equipment. Extensive knowledge of Oracle Database architectures and concepts. Extensive knowledge and experience with SQL,PL/SQL,UNIX/LINUX scripting. Good experience of RMAN backup and recovery procedures. Good experience of Oracle ETL processes and techniques. Good experience and knowledge of performance tuning of very large Oracle databases. Experiences in databases and application server patching. Good understanding of database security techniques. Exposure to Oracle Enterprise Manager 12C. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with strong presentation skills. Knowledge and understanding of the need for formal Change Management. Capacity monitoring and management capabilities Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities. Highly motivated to solve problems efficiently Requires the ability to interact with others, interpret spoken messages and utilize reason to resolve complex problems. Design database structures and use data modeling tools. Design and development of Schema, Aggregations, Indexes, SQL Views, Triggers, Stored Procedures and support database activities, such as data loading and unloading. On– call for production databases – daily maintenance, monitoring, problem resolution and internal customer/development support. Database optimization using techniques such as materialized views, parallel processing, partitioning, and indexing Perform database and application server patching and configuration changes as required Continually assessment of current technical processes and advising/proposing/implementing process improvement Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures. Implement and maintain database security policies and best practices. Create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges. Setup and maintain documentation and standards.
