You will learn about the international business environment and the forces of globalization, and how countries and companies respond to them. The topics include: • • • international-level: international institutions, trading regimes, economic cooperation, monetary systems; country-level: natural resources, economics, culture, laws, regulations, politics, trade and investment policy; and corporate-level: international business strategies, foreign entry decisions, international marketing, foreign direct investments. Please read ahead the text chapters, powerpoint slides, cases and articles so that you would be able to participate meaningfully. Try to keep abreast of news that pertain to doing business abroad and to foreign businesses in Singapore from the business section of Straits Times (Singapore), and business periodicals such as Business Times (Singapore), Asian Wall Street Journal, Economist and Business Week. B. Individual : Quiz (T/F, MCQ) (2O%) This is a 45-minute closed-book Quiz. It consists of T/Fs and MCQs based on Chapters 1 through 12. C. Individual : Essay Test (2O%) This is a 60-minute open-book choose-two-out-of-three test based on the whole course. D. Team : Project (4O%) Each team will be assigned a different project topic for research and presentation. Each team is allotted 25 minutes to present its key findings to the class 15%) to be followed by Q&A with the audience. The written report (25%) is due the following week.
