EMC Egypt Facility
In September 2010, EMC moved to a brand new building in 5th settlement in New Cairo, one of the newest
business districts in Egypt. The prestigious district encompasses offices of renowned multinational
companies. The strategic location of EMC premises envisioned the potential expansion of operations and
foresaw an exponential increase in number of employees. The building is in close proximity to multiple
international universities, allowing more students to engage in internship programs.
The location of the building is accessible via several major roads; connecting it with most of Cairo’s suburbs
and facilitating employees’ daily commute through a web-based application for transport regulation.
The building is comprised of 7 office floors and currently accommodates two different EMC entities (COE and
Rep. Office). EMC Egypt followed a gradual expansion pattern; starting with only two floors in 2010. The facility
provides state-of-art working environment complying with modern office designs and trends. The open space
office with a number of closed offices provides spacious
and comfortable working area which portrays openness,
transparency and collaborative work.
As for converging facilities, the building has a lot of
different sized training and meeting rooms, equipped with
c u t t i n g e d g e t o o l s s u ch a s Te l e p r e s e n ce a n d
videoconference as well as an experimental lab
Incorporated in EMC space.
The electric energy needs of the building are secured with
gigantic electrical transformers for medium tension,
backed up with stand-by generators for emergency loads. Two gas power plants provide necessary HVAC
(heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) support to the whole building.
The sustainable development is taken into consideration as the building employs an automated light control
system where lights are switched-off automatically after working hours or during weekends. Recyclable
materials are regularly picked-up by the NGO.
The security and safety of the building are adequately and properly handled; all gates and floors are accesscontrolled. CCTV surveillance & intrusion protection systems as well as fire alarm and firefighting systems
work around the clock to ensure the safety of the employees and the building.
The facility provides recreation area known as Flex Space where employees can have fun, socialize and
recharge for a little while. It also provides designated praying rooms, staff cafeteria & ATM machine for the
convenience of employees.EMC building has two main access levels on two main streets and can be easily
spotted hundreds of meters away.
COE Club
COE Club is the internal committee that manages all EMC internal events. Basically, the club works on
encouraging employees to engage in a variety of activities; social, educational and physical. Most of these
events are different in nature but very similar in their ultimate goals e.g., team building, skills enhancement,
physical and emotional wellness. It also intends to stimulate the sense
of fair play, healthy life style and personal fitness as well as skills
development for all employees.
COE Club organizes fun events like “Semi Annual Fun Day”, a day comes
in EMC’s calendar twice and the and real fun comes with it:
extravaganza entertainment, magicians, games, exquisite atmosphere
and delicious food.
The events are not limited to social; COE club also organizes many
sports events like: Weekly Football Gathering and Weekly Squash
Gathering, Internal and External Football Tournaments, Ping pong
tournaments as well as Yoga and
aerobics classes awareness
sessions on healthy-life, music
and photography tutoring were held in EMC premises. The Flex room fun
is second to none; the room has a lot of cool stuff like table-tennis, Xbox
and Play Station with Bean Bags scattered all over the place; fun is a
sure thing!
Furthermore, COE Club team works consistently to expand the range of
employees’ benefits through negotiating travel packages from travel
companies and special offers, exclusive corporate deals with hotels,
restaurant, coffee shops, nurseries and social clubs etc.
COE Club proved to be an excellent tool to bring employees together,
educate them and engage them in different activities keeping the work
environment fun, friendly and coherent.
