It’s so easy to get started with our Automated
Telephone Service! Simply dial 1-800-769-2560
for RBC Direct InvestingTM and you will be
connected to our service menu.

The main menu options offer you access to a
range of services

Accessing our Automated
Telephone Service

To start using our Automated Telephone
Service, simply call 1-800-769-2560 at any
time and follow the key prompts.
1 from the main menu, enter the last
12 digits from your RBC Royal Bank or RBC
Direct Investing client card, followed by your
three-digit personal access code. If you make a
mistake you can press the * key to re-enter.

Once you enter your client card number and
personal access code, you will be connected to
the main menu. Select the service you require
and follow the prompts:

To review watchlists, press 1

To obtain a single quote, press 2

For market overview, press 3
n
For account balances, press 4
n
To place a trade with an Investment Services
Rep or check order status, press 5
n
For password reset, press 6

First Time Access Code Selection
First time users of the Automated Telephone
Service must obtain a temporary 3 digit
personal security code. This temporary personal
security code will be valid for 48 hours.
To obtain the temporary personal security code
using your RBC Royal Bank client card, call
1-800-769-2511 and speak directly to an agent.
To obtain the temporary personal security
code using your RBC Direct Investing client
card, call 1-800-769-2560 and speak directly
to an RBC Direct Investing Investment
Services Representative.
To reset the temporary personal security code,
select 1 from the main menu for watchlists,
quotes, market overview and account balances.
The system will automatically ask you to reset
your personal security code (access code).
Continue to follow the prompts to reset your
access code using the last 12 digits of your RBC
Royal Bank client card and your temporary code.
By selecting your own three-digit access code,
your account will be protected from any
unauthorized use. This number is confidential.

Changing your personal access code number
using our automated telephone service
If you are an existing user of the Automated
Telephone Service and wish to change your
valid personal security code, select 1 from
the main menu for watchlists, quotes, market
overview and account balances. Enter the last
12 digits from your RBC Royal Bank or RBC
Direct Investing client card, followed by your
valid 3-digit personal access code.
From the main menu select 6 to reset the
3-digit personal security code. Follow the
prompts to complete the password reset.
Review Watchlists
After pressing 1 from the main menu and
entering your client card # and personal access
code, you will be connected to the next menu.
To review watchlists, press 1 .
Enter the watchlist number followed by # .
To hear a list of your current watchlist numbers,
press # . At any time, during the listing, you can
enter the watchlist number followed by # to
select a particular watchlist.
Once you select your watchlist item, you will
hear a quick quote. To skip to the next quote
in the list, press * .
By pressing 1 , you can get a detailed quote.
By pressing 2 , you can place an order
through an RBC Direct Investing Services
Representative.

Obtaining Quotes
Requesting a single quote
When you request an equity quote, you will
receive the price and change. After hearing the
quote, you may follow the prompts to request
an expanded quote, which will include the bid
price, ask price, volume, bid lot size and offer lot
size. The quote will indicate if the value is from a
previous trade session and if the equity is halted.
If you request a mutual fund quote, you will hear
the previous day’s closing unit value and the
change in price.
You can also obtain quotes on North American
indices. You will hear the index value, high and low.

Accessing Market Overviews
After pressing 1 from the main menu, and
entering your client card number and personal
access code, you will be connected to the next
menu. To obtain a market overview press 3
and you will be provided with quick access
to a listing of the following market indicators
reported in real time:

S&P/TSX Composite
n Dow
Jones Industrial Average
n Nasdaq
Composite
n Canadian
n Gold
Dollar

Retrieving Account Balances
After pressing 1 from the main menu, and
entering your client card number and personal
access code, you will be connected to the next
menu. To obtain account balances press 4 . To
retrieve your total portfolio or account balance,
you will be asked to first select the account type:
For investment accounts, press 1
For registered accounts, press 2
After choosing the account type, you can review
portfolio balances.
For total (combined) portfolio and/or margin
positions valued in Canadian dollars press 1
For Canadian balances, press 2
For U.S. balances, press 3

And Exceptions
Some telephone keypads differ. As a result, use
this chart as a guide:
Press 7 2 for R
Press 7 3 for S
Press 7 7 for Q
Press 9 9 for Z
Press 1 1 to enter a period ( . )

The security or ticker symbol for Royal Bank is
RY. Enter this symbol as follows:
n Press 7 for the letter R.
n Press
2 since the R is in the second position
on that key. (Note: if Q appears on your
keypad, R will be in the third position. See key
coding information and exceptions below for
additional information on the letter R.)
n Press
9 for the letter Y.
n Press
3 since the Y is the third position on
that key.
n Then
press #
You have pressed 7 2 9 3 #
You may also enter preferred equities using .PR,
rights using .RT or warrants using .WT.
