The recent floods in Pakistan have caused devastation that is unimaginable by an average Pakistani sitting in the comfort of his/her home to fully understand.
There are however, certain people among us; our own
EFL employees who witnessed this disaster take shape right in front of their eyes. Their farms, live stocks, homes, villages; in all; their entire livelihood has been engulfed by the furious flood waves but the one thing that they have held on to is
HOPE. By the grace of Allah, these employees and their family members are safe and have found shelter for themselves. Engro recognizes the spirit of these employees and is doing its best to provide basic amenities in various flood affected areas of
Pakistan. May Allah bring peace and serenity in
Pakistan once again and may the bonds of brotherhood grow stronger in the years to come. Ameen

On August 27, 2010, EFL reached the first milestone towards its global dream by signing the MOU with the acquisition target company in Canada.
This is just the beginning of an exciting journey that will see our footprint spanning the globe, culminating in EFL's sponsorship of summer
Olympics 2020.
It seems the success of the 2009 Olper’s Ramadan commercial is continuing. The commercial, featuring Atif
Aslam and Dawud Wharsnby memorably coming together to remind us of the power and importance of the global
Ummah, has recently been highlighted in an article in the New York Times. Titled, “Pitching to the Muslims”, it was reprinted in the International Herald Tribune, thus being seen worldwide. The article highlights the challenges of creating advertising for an Islamic sensibility. It focuses on the challenges presented by the growing Muslim consumers and audiences. Olper’s has been chosen, in the article, as an example of a commercial that does it right.
It is a source of pride for us to be appreciated at such a global level and we look forward to creating more pioneering work on an international standard of quality.

EFL's unprecedented growth and aspirations along with its vision demanded an ERP system that unified the ever-spreading business onto one platform. Project Pixel came as a foundation for our dreams and our visions and is near completion. The Pixel team are determined to give us yet another success story and have worked day and night in the holy month of Ramadan, deeply submerged in SAP’s modular and integration testing phase to conclude it by the end of September. This will be followed by UAT, after which the project will move into the End User Training phase. This project started in the first quarter of 2010 and is now in its final stages. By the grace of Allah and the prayers of our fellow employees we will go live in
October with EFL stepping into a new era of strategic management. So get ready to be a part of history that will change the way EFL works forever!!
Food Service Department arranged their sales planning meeting and outbreak at Naran
Valley. All FSD Region FSM's including their TSM's had participated.
First day we arranged a Sales
Planning Meeting at dinning hall in freezing temperature and the second day we went to
Lake Saif-ul-Maluk in jeeps and horses.
It was a very pleasant, refreshing and memorable trip, especially for the exhausted sales team.
Finally on August 2, 2010, EFL stepped into it’s new DEN despite all the rain and law and order situation. We never compromised on the inauguration date and worked day in and day out to make up for the lost time. The new workspace is a floor below the previous one at Harbor Front Building but has not stepped down on any perks, comfort and royalty.
The floor has been designed in such a way that it captures
EFL‘s culture, passion, ethics, values and HSE aspects.
Branding and signage has carefully and cleverly been used as an element of design. The premises are fully equipped with
HSE gadgets, a panoramic view of the sea, and a mural created by the renowned artist, Mashkoor Raza. All this has made this DEN a ‘must visit’ place!
Engro Foods prides itself on always rising to the challenge; challenges in any form or of any nature. And when a strong football team comprising of players from Engro Fert/EXIMP/F&O/Corp humbled the Foods team in an earlier match during the Inter-Engro Ramadan Football Tournament being held at the PDA
Ground, the challenge was there for the Foodies to respond. And as expected, the boys did just that, and in some style too. A resurgent Foods team, supported by their Foods colleagues in good numbers, put in a rampant performance, outplaying the opposition in every area of the pitch. Ahsan Afzaal Ahmad and
Hamza Ahmed scored the goals for Foods while Hasan Akram Chaudhary scored a consolation for the
ROE (Rest of Engro) Team, with a special mention for Faisal, the Foods goalkeeper. The score ended at 2-1 to Foods with the final whistle being greeted by boisterous celebrations by the EFL team and supporters.

The Olper’s Ramadan campaigns are anticipated annually by all. Every year consumers, retailers, marketers and even Engro’s own employees look forward to the visual feast and inspirational messaging that is the hallmark of Olper’s Ramadan commercials. These established high standards create a challenge for the entire Olper’s team to improve upon their style and content year after year. Given the success of 2009’s epic song
“Hum Mustafavi Hain,” the team felt it was time to challenge expectations once again.
Whereas previous years have celebrated the unity of the Muslim brotherhood on a national and global level, this year we chose to celebrate the very qualities that are an intrinsic part of a true Muslim. Choosing the poetic words of Iqbal and the masterful composition by Madam Noor Jehan, Olper’s has created an emotional tour-de-force once again. “HAR LEHZA HAI MOMIN”, as interpreted through the innocence of children, will be the message that inspires us this Ramadan. It is a message that resonates powerfully in trying times our great nation finds itself in. Olper’s Milk is an affirmation of all the caring, compassion and humility that unites the people of Pakistan.
The children represent our innocence, the song represents our aspirations and Olper’s represents that which is best in all of us.

Once again there was excitement all over as we heard about another training session, but this time it was “Effective Business Communication”. The two days training at Carlton Hotel was one of the most informative & memorable trainings I ever attended. The young charismatic energy filled Hassan Bin Rizwan (Trainer from OCTARA) never let any one of us feel bored and such participative levels were never seen before. Special thanks to the MALANG “Imran Sheikh

EFSL team encompasses individuals from different organizational and business sector backgrounds. In order to quickly develop a sense of commitment and camaraderie, two major team building activities were conducted in 2nd quarter 2010.
This fun filled activity was arranged by EFL HR through an external Training Agency. For three days, the entire team stayed at a magnificent resort at Nathiagali.
Away from the usual ‘rat race’, people experienced adventure & excitement in a setting that offered magnificent scenery; allowing IRPC Team to stretch themselves through a strenuous hiking trip & strategy games.
This was a half day session designed and conducted exclusively for EFSL, by EFSL. The activity was organized in a local hotel in Lahore and included team building games as well as personal realization exercises. All EFSL HODs and their first in line attended the session that concluded with the team’s celebration over a sumptuous dinner at a traditional restaurant.

Someone once said, "We first make our people and then our people make us". To us iefl is more than just an Employer Brand, instead, it is the real essence of how we do business, as we realize that it is the combined strength of our people that makes us what we are today.
The event was attended by all the staff stationed at the remote
Nara Dairy Farm and was a source or rejuvenation and motivation for all present.
Leadership Skills training was held in Dubai during the month of July. Roger
Harop, author of the book “Staying in the helicopter” conducted it. He had developed a highly interactive workshop for 22 members of the EFL sales team (all RSM’s and top performing ASM’s) using his unique “helicopter” perspective of demystifying and simplifying the business environment for sustained profitable sales growth.
This fun filled trip to Dubai rejuvenated us by serving as a catalyst. A Special thanks to VP Sales and HR for giving us this exposure and learning opportunity at this level, as international trainings at Area Manager Level are unheard of in Pakistan.

Dear All,
In my lifetime I cannot remember Pakistan facing the crisis it does today. Not even 1971 was this bad. The floods have ripped the soul out of our agriculture heartland. More than 1 in 10
Pakistanis have been affected. Lives lost, property lost, diseases, loss of earnings potential.
Depression and shock is all around us.
The need of the hour is to get ourselves moving. If we dwell too long on what is happening we will drown in our own fears and apprehensions. The moving part involves two activities. a) The business part - need to keep it going and make it deliver b) The relief/rehab activity.
As Pakistanis both the above mentioned are our duty. We need to put in our heart and soul and do it. Others in our organization and outside are watching. They will take a cue on how to proceed from us. All the more reason we must not flinch.
The relief activity will be carried out through Engro Foundation, with our own employees contributing. I am certain this will be the best quality activity done in this field in Pakistan. InshaAllah.
In my mind is the picture of hundreds of thousands of refugees who cannot get one meal a day or proper clean water.
In this environment, I just want to be totally sure that whatever we spend money on is justified. We are answerable to a higher authority and I want us to feel this need and pain, as if these people are our brothers and sisters. It is what has been unfortunately missing in our country for too long.
I am depending upon you all to guide the company to do what is required. There is no other option if we are good
Pakistani citizens.
As a part of our social responsibility; we started a campaign to collectfunds for the flood victims. Project “Payaam
“was immediately initiated. The team was lead by Imran Sheikh, the other members included myself, Farrukh Umair, Hasan
Raza, Fahim Amir and Mansur Majid. In just a span of one week over Rs. 450,000 were collected. Food and grocery items were bought and packed with the help of
TSMs Rawalpindi Region.
The EFL South Plant, in collaboration with Engro Foundation, has distributed handsome amounts of milk to the displaced, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. It has been a tradition here at south plant, that during Ramadan, the employees living on the plant site treat each other on Iftars and thus bring flavor to this holy month and time spent away from home. This year, however, as a collective effort, employees cancelled all the lavish Iftaris that were planned and polled in all the money for their flood relief efforts. Teams were mobilized to ensure seamless supply of food to 500 individuals every day. The best part about this is that this pool was enriched with contributions from all parts of EFL and was a source of inspiration for many similar action groups.
The persistent wave of unprecedented rains, turning into brutal floods, caused massive destruction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. All road networks between KPK & other part of the country collapsed.
Two of Rawalpindi Region’s secondary sales vans carrying ice cream stocks of worth Rs. 575,000 got stuck in Peshawar and were unable to come back to base-town, Rawalpindi.
To avoid heavy ice cream damages,(which were anticipated in that situation), both sales teams decided to remain in the market to provide services to our retailers.
They sold every single carton available in their vans, despite the fact that the houses of two members were badly damaged due to floods. On August 2nd, after 5 days, the vans arrived back in the regional office and deposited back each and every penny of the sold stock to the company.
Muneem Khan Tareen, currently working as Regional Sales
Manager, Lahore (EFL) was right in the middle of the floods.“Everything was destroyed, my farm, my cattle, my home.
Alhamdulillah, Allah saved our lives.” Putting his personal losses aside, Muneem kept his focus on relief work and raised a handsome amount through his personal contribution as well as through his Engro colleagues. With the advent of Ramadan, he and his family have set up a 150 inhabitant camps at Qasba
Gujrat where sehri and iftari are being served regularly.
Currently, Muneem and his brother are setting up 25 tents in collaboration with an NGO, to host 25 families which will be given food, medicine and heath facilities.
Listening and reading about the destruction caused by the floods had a very profound effect on me and I decided that I had to do something about it.
Speaking to like-minded friends, we began to collect material that we could distribute amongst the affected by personally visiting the relief camps. A lot of hard work went into this but at the end of the day we were able to proudly say we had managed to collect almost PKR4 million. Using this money, we bought 4500 Kg each of rice and wheat, two thousand kilos of lentils, groceries, coolers and medicine. We packed all this stuff and visited a lot of camps in Shikarpur, Sukkur, Larkana and Thatta to help our brethren in need.
We have now come back to the city for a second round of fund raising as we now understand the needs of the people much more clearly.
Fahim Amir, Area sales manager in Islamabad and his family, were at the receiving end when the overflowing waters of River Kabul caused total destruction in Nowshera. Faheem managed to contact a relative in the armed forces, which by then had started its rescue operations in Nowshera. Hundreds were airlifted off rooftops by PAF and army helicopters.
He established a volunteer fund with the help of local Engro colleagues. Within a matter of a week, they were able to collect over Rs.
600,000. A team was formed and a Mazda was hired to carry approximately 200 big bundles of dry food, each having enough ration to support a family of 6 for two weeks.
Faheem identified Akora Khatak, an adjoining area of Nowshera as the target to distribute relief.

Majid Iqbal, Dairy Development Manager at Engro Foods Limited is second to none when it comes to offering services to the national cause. With the destruction caused in the aftermath of Indus water overflow in areas surrounding Sukkur, opportunities to carry out volunteer relief were plenty. Majid and his colleagues from EFL Sukkur plant pooled an amount which was spent on purchase of food stocks. The stocks were handed over to Pak
Army who air dropped them from their helicopters to a population trapped in despair and agony. It was then that volunteers from EFL South Plant Sukkur got in full swing. Cooked food along with water jerry cans was arranged and they were taken to a nearby camp where
500 people were served. The process continued unabated in coming weeks, each day 500 people would eat and the volunteers were busy arranging funds to make it happen.
From the airport towards the Engro Foods plant, I passed the Sukkur Barrage where the water level had enveloped the WAPDA towers that were fixed in the canal. I knew
I would have an eye-opening weekend ahead of me. The next day, Farooq and I went to the UNICEF office and the HANDS relief camp. HANDS, (one of our partners), has set up camp in one of the Basic Health Units (BHU). HANDS has adopted 13 government camps near the Engro Foods plant in Rohri. Waking up at 8 in the morning, I left with the SRSO team for our distribution location. I studied the distribution process carefully. The first day, ration packs were handed out to 400 families. The next day, almost 300 more families received them. Satisfied that the process was transparent and that the money we are donating is being put to good use, I packed my bags and set off for Karachi.
Not all of us have been able to reach the sites that have been hit but that does not mean that we cannot do anything to help. Lots of people have come forward in the cities to raise funds, organize distribution and even volunteer at the make shift camps that have been set up for the affectees that are coming into the city.
Asking around, we learnt that one such camp had been setup in the Gizri area of
Karachi. The camp is funded by Bahria Builders and provides food twice daily. The things that are needed include milk, sugar, tea, towels and hair oil along with wheat, rice and lentils.I appeal to everyone across the nation to recognize their national duty and do more than they can to help and assure our men that they are not alone in their time of need.

Friends in the scenic valley of swat a ruinous flood came which we never heard of in the history of Pakistan. It swept away many villages like those were never on the ground. The only thing left is grief and sorrow. We as EFL team are making a history from army operation to the recent floods that whatever the situation may be our goal is very simple and that is to over deliver. Mingora team kept their promise and made a record of 24.2 million primary sales in July against the target of 16.4 million.
We are committed to win the territory champion trophy this year Inshallah.

Q1. Why do you believe in Project Pixel?
USMAN: Project Pixel is the change which will act as a catalyst in the successes of EFL by bringing all of the internal to one goal and one language.
KAISER: For me Pixel is not just another assignment rather a great challenge for which I have been selected from my division to carry the flag at SAP front and been empowered to write the history on the great canvas of EFL. One day, Inshallah me, my team and the entire EFL would feel proud on this endeavor.
BILAL: Pixel is a crucial turning point in my career which is not only grooming me rather would definitely bring excellence to EFL. I think it is a pivotal KPI of our vision.
"ELEVATING CONSUMER DELIGHT WORLDWIDE"
ABDULLAH: Having implemented SAP in ICP, I think its the need of the hour to bring Dairy and all other upcoming businesses of EFL on one ERP platform of SAP for better management and financial clarity across board.
ALI ABBAS: I have been a part of the SAP implementation team in ICP and have seen it go through various stages of improvements in the business. I am sure this step of business re-engineering in dairy will mark a new era of optimization, efficiency and control for EFL
Q2. What are your challenges as Power Users for SAP implementation?
USMAN: Implementing a major erp like SAP with such a wide business in a short span of time is a dream which the Pixel team is achieving
KAISER: 1.To finalize all the sales processes within time lines
2. Flawless integration of Sales Module with rest of the Pixel Modules
3. To satisfy each and every End User for His/Her new role after SAP and make the "Change" a delightful experience for them.
BILAL: 1- Mapping of AS-IS on TO-BEs of SAP, however within the project timelines
2- Historical data migration from legacy to SAP and implementation of Business Intelligence
ABDULLAH: Although this implementation is itself a mighty challenge, the biggest one in my opinion is to keep the systems and processes integrated while remaining in our individual modules. SAP is all about business processes integration. I am sure this challenge will be seen-off just like all the previous ones.!
ALI ABBAS: The biggest challenge is to keep the various businesses integrated on one platform. We need to work very stronger as a team in doing so and i am sure very soon a day will come when we turn this dream into a reality.!
Q3. What are your feelings for the go live of this project?
USMAN: Its more like how an athlete feels after taking the lead and reaching the podium in an Olympic.
KAISER: It reminds me the feeling when I launched Engro in Quetta Area as Area
Sales Manager on 15th of March, 2006. I had a 250ml tray of Olper's in my both hands like a new born baby and I went to trade, shop by shop uncovering the new world of Olper's upon everyone. At that time, I had no idea about the future of my brands but I had a firm belief in Allah and myself, had trust on Engro and I pushed myself an extra mile like my other colleagues and Alhamdolillah it all became a great success story, that is written on the wall.
Similarly at Pixel Front, be ready to celebrate another success story Inshallah which will uplift Engro one step further .
BILAL: I am feeling too much happy to listen from my end users that now they can access more transparent information and their life is much more easier than the past.
These words will be success of me, my project team and entire Sales team.
ABDULLAH: This project is something that company has dreamed off, and feeling of being a leader of the team that is turning it into a reality, is something that cant be explained in words. ! Cant wait for Go Live !
ALI ABBAS: Awe inspiring. ! Feel proud to say that i am an integral part of the team that is working days and nights to make this happen. Go live will inshallah be another giant leap for EFL towards the top flight !
