Dr. Kevin Smith
Position/Affiliation: President and CEO,
St. Joseph’s Healthcare
Hamilton
Dr. Kevin Smith is the President and CEO of St.
Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, St. Joseph’s
Lifecare Centre Brantford and CEO of St. Mary’s
General Hospital in Kitchener. He is an Associate
Professor in the Department of Medicine at
McMaster University and is also active in the MD
program, post-graduate medical program and the
DeGroote School of Business.
Kevin is frequently appointed by the Government of
Ontario to serve as a ministerial supervisor of
health care facilities, investigator, coach and peer
reviewer. In addition, he is co-leading the provincial
government’s Emergency Department and
Alternate Level of Care initiative.
Kevin also contributes to several provincial and national bodies. He is vice-chair of the
Ontario Hospital Association board, director of both the Association of Canadian Academic
Healthcare Organizations and the Change Foundation boards. He is also a board member of
the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario
Governing Council. He also serves on various private and philanthropic boards.
Kevin received his education in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. More recently, he has
continued his education at the Rotman School of Business Directors College at the University
of Toronto and at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
