“Technical skills are a must have, but equally important
are the soft skills necessary to succeed in our global
environment, such as strong verbal communications,
collaboration and teamwork, creative thinking that
drives innovation—these all help candidates stand out
to prospective employers.”

ENGINEERING EMPLOYMENT
OUTLOOK FOR CANADA
TOP EARNING POTENTIAL PER REGION
2022
THE LABOUR SHORTAGE IN CANADA is expected to continue through 2022 with
half of all job openings stemming from baby boomer retirements. Moreover, Canadian
employment growth is projected to be strong as a result of investments in infrastructure
and an increase in capital expenditures, increasing the demand for engineering services.
This labour shortage is sobering news for many organizations, but great news for
Canadian engineers. Canada will see particularly strong career growth in the coming
years for engineers involved in geotechnical, mining, aerospace and computers.
