Welcome to
SDSB
Welcome to the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) MBA Programme, the flagship programme of
LUMS. The SDSB MBA is a highly competitive, intense, challenging and demanding experience, that brings out
the best in you.
Our MBA Programme offers broad management education. The curriculum is taught completely through
the Case Method of Teaching by one of the most competent faculty in the region. The rigorous economic
and management research conducted by our faculty ensures that SDSB MBA stays one of the most relevant
degrees in South Asia.
At SDSB MBA we teach leadership not just by example, but by practice. We develop your analytical and
quantitative skills through the Case Method of Teaching. We provide you challenging opportunities to apply
these skills and develop new ones in team-based multidisciplinary projects. During MBA at SDSB you will work
with your peers and faculty in real time, for real stakes, for real companies around the world. You will do it as
part of our core curriculum, and you can choose to do even more through a rich array of electives and focused
learning opportunities. The Competency and Professional Development (CPD) module of our curriculum hones
the soft skills of our students. Adding on to the B-School exposure, the various events organised by special MBA
executive clubs takes the classroom experience to real world setting and provides immense networking and
learning opportunities with the industry and academia.
Our MBA classrooms have student representation from various countries of South Asia. Student exchange
programmes across the globe adds to the international exposure of our graduates. We have a strong alumni
presence throughout the region. More than 50% of our alumni body is placed internationally which speaks of
the achievements of our graduates. Our student body has access to these highly engaged alumni networks,
seeking their advice and guidance. We provide our graduates with tremendous career and professional
development opportunities. Through the MBA Placement Office we assist our students to achieve their career
aspirations.
At SDSB we foster open-mindedness, agility, and teamwork in our graduates. After going through the SDSB
experience you will possess the resilience required to deal with uncertainty, insight to ask the right questions,
identify the real challenges, and solve the important problems.
I hope that after going through the following pages and paying us a visit, you will be able to assess if the SDSB
MBA is the best fit for you.

What Makes Us Different?
The SDSB Advantage
Through our flagship MBA Programme we invite you to a unique B-School experience that
will transform your personal and professional life. We offer two years of leadership practice
immersed in real-world challenges.
This is what makes the SDSB MBA different.

Management Across
Multiple Functions and Levels
At SDSB we develop leaders with a ‘Comprehensive Managerial
Calibre’. We train our students in all disciplines of management
through real life cases related to human resources, marketing,
finance, operations, organisational behaviour, entrepreneurship,
customer relationship, etc. Throughout the two years we expose
our students to a wide-ranging array of situations, developing their
capacity for analysis, assessment, judgment, and action that you
can exercise throughout the course of any career you choose to
pursue.
Real World Learning
Our curriculum is based on real life cases rather than theories. It is
taught through the ‘Case Method’ pedagogy. Our faculty is one of
the most high ranked in the region. Their capability in the classroom
teaching is as inspirational as their leading-edge research. The
close collaboration between the faculty and industry keeps our
curriculum evolving and relevant. Through the Case Research Centre
our faculty has contributed more than 500 local cases to the
curriculum, making it highly relevant to the South Asian industry.
B-School of Asia
The SDSB MBA Programme attracts highly talented individuals
from all over the world especially Asia, bringing diverse
perspectives and experiences to our class room. Many of the
cases taught are international in scope with a wide variety
of MBA courses directly addressing global business issues. To
support our faculty research and case development process,
SDSB maintains linkages with top B-schools of the world
including Harvard, IMD, INSEAD, McGill University and RICE
University.
Connect to Grow
The MBA at SDSB is an extremely demanding, rigorous and high
pressure experience. The intense course work is invigorated by
school-wide club events, student organisations, guest speakers,
seminars, sports, conferences, and more. Our campus is designed to
encourage community collaboration for a richer learning experience.
Student life during the two years of MBA revolves around mutual
support and respect for peers, developing close-knit friendships
that last a lifetime. On graduation you earn a place within a
community of nearly 2200 alumni world over.

aided by our MBA Placement Office.

Alumni Relations
Donor Dinner Karachi
The primary role of the Alumni Office is to
provide a clear vision of the importance of
alumni to the mission of the university and to
develop, sustain and expand opportunities
for alumni. The Alumni Office fosters and
strengthens the intellectual and corporate
connections to the LUMS community,
and provides all alumni with a range of
opportunities that will engage them with the
university and with each other.
Every year hundreds of alumni return to
campus to celebrate their homecoming. These
reunions offer alumni the opportunity to catch
up with old classmates, share experiences from
their time at LUMS and find out about new
developments at the School. Many alumni
also decide to mark their anniversary year by
making a collective Class Gift to the School to
ensure that current and future students can
get as much out of their time at LUMS as they
did.
The SDSB Luminites Association was formed
in 2009 with the objective to cultivate and
strengthen relationships with all the involved
stakeholders; business and social enterprises.
All the graduates of LUMS –SDSB are the
members of this Association. The Association’s
affairs are run by an Executive Board elected by
the SDSB alumni community.
Alumni and friends have made a significant
contribution to the new academic building
of the Suleman Dawood School of Business,
which is set to be in full operation and
occupation by next year. Located adjacent to
the University Mosque, the building will provide
extensive and flexible teaching and learning
space for the School.
Connect With Us through Open Houses
Before you decide that SDSB is the school for you, we strongly encourage you to pay us a visit. While you are
here, you can meet with current students and faculty; tour the campus to experience the student
life. We encourage you to learn more about our MBA Programme to determine if it is the right fit for you.
