The University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Computer Science will be offering a new Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in data science this summer. Students will have the opportunity to work on projects touching multiple facets of data science including applications (computational social science, computational ecology and sustainability, health, and more), data analytics (machine learning, natural language processing, information retrieval, and more), and computational infrastructure for data science (databases, parallel and distributed systems, cloud computing, etc.). Students will work on research projects under the supervision of a faculty member and graduate student mentor. The students will be paid a stipend of $5000 for a 10-week period and housing will be provided. More information about the REUMass Amherst program including eligibility criteria and application details can be found at: http://reu.cs.umass.edu A PDF flyer for the program is available at the link below. We would greatly appreciate it if you could post the flyer and forward it to your students. We are accepting applications from now through Feb 27, 2015.
