PRESS RELEASE WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION ANNOUNCES PLAN TO INTEGRATE ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS IN ITALY Comerio (VA), May 20th, 2015 - With the acquisition of Indesit, Whirlpool Corporation has doubled its scale in the Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region and now has a unique opportunity to create a company capable of competing in the market for the decades to come, and to continue to create value for our employees, our consumers, trade customers, suppliers and shareholders. The acquisition has has also resulted in duplication of some roles. These duplications are being addressed in order to ensure an efficient and effective organization. After the presentation of the Italian Industrial and Research & Development plan, we are now announcing the integration of the administrative functions and are completing the re-organization re organization of our Italian activities. The plan foresees redundancies of 480 salaried employees in Italy. The impact of the reduction on the individual locations is as follows: ● 200 roles in Fabriano,, on top of the 35 already announced in Research & Development; ● 200 roles in the Varese area (Varese and Cassinetta), in addition to the 75 already announced in Research & Development; ● 80 roles in Milan. Along with the approach taken so far in this integration process, and in line with what was announced in Italy’s Industrial plan, the Company confirms its availability not to proceed with “unilateral dismissals until the end of 2018” also for salaried employees. A sustainable organization will ill be created by assigning well defined accountabilities to each location. At the same time it will maintain a multi-regional regional setup and preserve salaried presence in the regions where we have administrative centers, leveraging on best competences and skills. skil Functions will be based as follows: ● Cassinetta will host Supply Chain; Central Manufacturing; Procurement; Research & Development; support in Finance, Human Resources; Global Information Systems; ● Comerio will host the Leadership Team; Product & Brand Marketing; European Sales; Finance; Human Resources; Legal; Strategic Planning; Commercial part of Market Italy; supportt in Global Information Systems; ● Fabriano will host Consumer Service & Quality; Quali Global Information Systems; Research & Development; Development the majority of Market Italy; part of Procurement; Procurement; support in Finance, Human Resources and Legal. In this context we are also evaluating the sustainability of our Comerio and Milano buildings and we are exploring alternative facilities within the Milano-Varese Varese area.
