Mission
Assist the college in the implementation, expansion, continuation and assessment of CAP Goal 1 –
Increase access, knowledge and application of career planning resources.
Goals
1) Ensure the implementation of CAP Intervention 2 – Integrate career planning into the preenrollment process for AAS students.
2) Enhance the career planning components of CAP Intervention 4 - Redesign ACA 111 College
Student Success.
3) Ensure the practice of valid and reliable assessment methods in the investigation of the impact
the CAP career planning interventions are having on the College.
4) Ensure the continuation of career planning activities to students beyond the first semester.
Tasks
1. Define career planning.
2. Review CAP career planning interventions.
3. Implement CAP Intervention 2.
a. Identify key leaders
b. Develop policies and procedures
c. Integrate the CFNC Interest Profiler into the application process
4. Assess the impact of Interventions 2 & 4.
a. Review student learning outcomes
b. Facilitate data collection relevant to the student learning outcomes
c. Compile reports from the data collection and review results
d. Provide recommendations for improvement based upon assessment results
5. Implement career planning activities for students beyond the first semester.
a. Identify current career planning activities on campus
b. Review other College’s career planning best practices
c. Expand career planning best practices across campus
6. Provide professional development to counselors, ACA 111 faculty, AAS Academic Advising
Faculty, and other staff with career planning responsibilities.
7. Report career planning activities and outcomes to the CAP Steering Team.
