Spanish I “Redesigning An Argentine Soccer Jersey”
Imagine that there is a contest in which fans can submit designs for a new national soccer
jersey. You will be presenting your idea to Argentina’s head coach, Diego Maradona.
Your jersey must focus on important cultural aspects of Argentina
Researching on your own, you will research Argentina’s history, culture, national
features and cities using encyclopedias, travel and geography books and magazines along
with online resources. Using images that you see from these resources, you will then need
to make symbols of certain aspects that highlight Argentina and add them to your jersey
design.
Here are a few helpful ideas on important parts of Argentina

 Tierra del Fuego
 Diego Maradona
 Cowboys (gauchos)
 “La Mano de Dios”
 Las Pampas
 Patagonia
Then, using your sketches, you create a jersey. You may use an old shirt, you do not
need to go out and buy one! There must be a FRONT and BACK to the jersey. You
must also provide a brief description of your design, as well as an explanation of why you
think your design symbolizes Argentina.
Your description must include:



A MINIMUM of four cultural aspects of Argentina
One of your cultural aspects must be a PERSON
Why you think your design symbolizes Argentina.
