Course Objectives
This course is designed to be an overview course in labor relations and collective bargaining. In
this course we will cover the basic aspects of the field of labor relations including labor history,
labor law, trade union structure and government, collective bargaining, and contract administration.
Grading and Evaluations
Each student is required to take two written exams. Each exam is worth 100 points. The exams
will account for 80% of your final grade. In addition to the exams each student is required to write
an individual case paper worth 50 points. The case paper is due December 1. Assignments and
exams are to be completed on the date given in the syllabus. Make-up exams and assignment
extensions may be given on a case-by-case basis with prior approval by the instructor.
