Your exam is worth 15% of your overall average and is a total of 300 points. Exam Topics I. Review the following in order to prepare for this section. o The writing process—pre-writing, drafting, revising/editing o Using the six traits of writing—ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions o Writing Skills - Clear thesis statement, effective support, elaboration of supporting ideas, transitions to connect ideas, effective opening and closing Writing Awareness: You should know elements of persuasive essays and paragraphs and be able to answer questions about writing Preparing for Your English Exam 1. Organize your binder and laptop; locate all class notes and materials. 2. Look over your tests and quizzes. 3. Determine “weak” areas and ask for help on any material that is confusing to you. 4. Attend tutorials and ask questions in class. 5. Keep in mind that you will not be able to ask questions during the test, so be sure to pay attention on review days to discussions about test format and directions. I.
