What is a Diorama Project?


The Diorama is a 3-Dimensional display of a MAJOR scene or
event from your book created on the inside of a box.
Dioramas must include main characters, props, and background
scenery
Making a Diorama Project:
Step 1—Get a shoebox (take out the shoes! LOL!)
Step 2—Cover and/or line the outside of it with construction paper,
wrapping paper, contact paper, etc.
Step 3—Choose a scene from your book to design that is a major event or
very important to the story.
Step 4—Think about what types of props you should include (furniture,
trees, fence, bicycles, road, house, animals, etc.) in your scene. Hint: make
yourself a list!
Your Diorama MUST INCLUDE:
Main characters
Background scenery related to the setting of the part
of the story you chose for your project.
The title, author, illustrator (if there is one),
publisher, & copyright date on the top of the shoebox.
Star rating: 1(poor)-5(best) on one side of the shoebox with an
explanation (book review).
A 10 sentence summary of the entire book on the other side of the
shoebox including a description of the setting, problem, major events,
and the solution/resolution.
A 6 (or more) sentence summary of the scene you chose on the back
of the shoebox.
Written portions should be typed for neatness purposes
***Please keep in mind that you have an ENTIRE MONTH to complete this
project, and therefore, effort will be the majority of your grade!
