TODAY’S OBJECTIVES:
Students will examine how the author’s
purpose affects his/her use of language and
choice of form (MCPS 3.4.2)
AGENDA:
1. Complete essay in which you answer the
following prompt: “What is the director’s
purpose in creating this documentary?” Begin
introduction (background and director’s purpose)
and supporting paragraphs (examples of ethos,
pathos or logos and explanation). For conclusion,
determine whether director was effective in
persuading you to think differently about fast
food and why….
2. With partners or individually, read ”In Praise of
the F Word” by Mary Sherry
(http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/1991/
05/05/in-praise-of-the-f-word.html). Determine
what is her thesis/argument. What
evidence/examples does she use to support her
argument (think ethos, pathos, logos)?
