Macdonald 1 Brandon Macdonald Mrs. Thomas English I Honors 16 December 2010 What is Non-fiction? Non-fiction writing is realistic and true. The subject matter is about a person, place, or thing. Non-Fiction writing talks about events that actually happened, real places and real people. Some examples of non-fiction I have read are “Carry Your Own Skis” by Linda Dolan, ‘Is Hunting Ethical’ by Anne Causey, “The Ignored Lesson of Anne Frank” by Bruno Bettelheim, Computers at Home: Education Hope vs. Teenage Reality’ by Randall Stross. In order to analyze and understand non-fiction one should be able to identify and define bias, tone, style, and author’s purpose. Non-Fiction is useful because it gives one true information from real life. When one read non-fiction one knows its fake or fiction its true facts and stories.
