Summer Reading 2008
Summer Reading is an essential part of the educational process. Reading during summer
break will help students to maintain and improve skills learned in the classroom during
the regular school year. All Henry Lord students are to read two books, that you have not
already read, from the Grade list below. All students will be given an assessment during
the first week of school in September.
Grade 8
Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain (classic fiction)
Maus by Art Spiegelman (graphic novel based on the Holocaust)
A Child Called “It” by Dave Pelzer (non-fiction)
Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt
Grade 7
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
Hoot by Carl Hiassen
Down a Dark Hall by Lois Duncan
