Endangered Species Project Purpose: To develop an understanding of ecology by investigating an organism at risk. Make a public awareness poster of an endangered organism to inform the public of the risk to your organism. 30 points possible: Identify an endangered or threatened animal species. Present all of the information below in an attractive, eye-catching poster. Give a brief oral report to the class. 5 points--Write a paragraph about why the organism is endangered, the past and current population of the organism, the factors that have led to the decline of the organism, and what is currently being done to save the organism. 5 points--Illustrations of your organism with drawing and/or pictures. 5 points--Classify your organism from Kingdom to Species. 5 points--Indicate on a world map the location and biome where your organism lives. 5 points--Draw a food web with your organism and at least 7 other organisms. Explain how the loss of your animal will affect the other organisms in the food web. 5 points--On back of poster, include a bibliography (reference list) with a minimum of 3 references. Details: A particular animal can only be reported on once per class. We will sign up for animals in class. Project due date is __________________. Projects must include all of the information listed above in the poster and oral presentation for full credit. Projects turned in after the due date will be deducted 5 points per day late.
