Bogineni C Naidu would like to set up a Eucalyptus Pulp Plant in his native place,
Ulavapadu Prakasam District. This received wide response. A few people liked the idea and are planning to help Bogineni. A few more projects like these will help gather information needed for starting a specific business or other in rural Andhra Pradesh. This will become a knowledgebase for others to tap into.
The same project connected a young Enginer from SVUCE, Rajani with her seniors. She showed a lot of enthusiasm to help Bogineni about the Eucalyptus Pulp Plant. Rajini has special interest in hydroponics, which is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil. She can be contatced at email: "Rajini Gutti" rajinigutti@gmail.com

Experts from pulp industry quoted Rs. 4 crores for a 50 ton/day pulp making factory:
Drum Chipper - Rs. 50 lakhs
Cooking vessel - Rs. 50 lakhs
Blow tank - Rs. 20 lakhs
4 washing machines - 160 lakhs
Cleaning of waste/black liquor (clean environment) - Rs. 100 lakhs
Total = Rs. 380 lakhs
Particle Board Plant
Pulp and Paper Industry experts said that Pulp and Paper mills produce toxic industrial waste, called black liquor. Converting black liquor for clean environment is very expensive process. Hence, they advised for larger paper and pulp mill. A 1500 tons/day paper mill costs about Rs.200 crores. It consumes a lot of water – 150 cubic meters of water per one ton of pulp. Hence, the paper mills are set up near rivers like Godavari and
Krishna. Hence good quality paper and pulp mill is not suited for Prakasam, Nellore and
Rayalaseema districts, as they don’t have rivers for continuous water supply.
The experts advised for Particle Board Plant for Ulavapadu, Prakasam district. A 30,000 ton/year Particle Board Plant costs Rs. 40 crores. This has excellent market in the housing industry in India and abroad.
Wood based particle board plant can make best use of Eucalyptus, Subabul, waste wood, sawdust, used furniture, cotton stalk, rice straw, wheat straw, sugar cane wastes, other agricultural wastes. This plant is environment friendly and energy saving and easier to maintain.
Machinery required for the particleboard production line may be obtained from the following link: http://www.alibaba.com/productgs/300910099/_Weiheng_Machinery_particle_board_production.html

A giant ship engine failed. The ship's owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine.
Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a young. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work.
He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.
Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed!
A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.
"What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!"
So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."
The man sent a bill that read:
Tapping with a hammer....................... $ 2.00
Knowing where to tap.......... .......….... $ 9, 998.00
Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort makes all the difference!

This was narrated by an IAF pilot to IIT students during a Seminar on Human Relations:
Venkatesh Balasubramaniam (who works for IIT) describes how his gesture of booking an air ticket for his father, his maiden flight, brought forth a rush of emotions and made him (Venkatesh) realize that how much we all take for granted when it comes to our parents.
My parents left for our native place on Thursday and we went to the airport to see them off. In fact, my father had never traveled by air before, so I just took this opportunity to make him experience the same. In spite of being asked to book tickets by train, I got them tickets on Jet Airways.
The moment I handed over the tickets to him, he was surprised to see that I had booked them by air. The excitement was very apparent on his face, waiting for the time of travel.
Just like a school boy, he was preparing himself on that day and we all went to the airport, right from using the trolley for his luggage, the baggage check-in and asking for a window seat and waiting restlessly for the security check-in to happen. He was thoroughly enjoying himself and I, too, was overcome with joy watching him experience all these things.
As they were about to go in for the security check-in, he walked up to me with tears in his eyes and thanked me. He became very emotional and it was not as if I had done something great but the fact that this meant a great deal to him. When he said thanks, I told him there was no need to thank me.
But later, thinking about the entire incident, I looked back at my life. As a child, how many dreams our parents have made come true.
Without understanding the financial situation, we ask for cricket bats, dresses, toys, outings, etc. Irrespective of their affordability, they have catered to all our needs. Did we
8
SVUCE ENGINEER September 01, 2010 Vol. : 2010 Issue No: Sep_01
ever think about the sacrifices they had to make to accommodate many of our wishes?
Did we ever say thanks for all that they have done for us? Same way, today when it comes to our children, we always think that we should put them in a good school.
Regardless of the amount of donation, we will ensure that we will have to give the child the best, theme parks, toys, etc. But we tend to forget that our parents have sacrificed a lot for our sake to see us happy, so it is our responsibility to ensure that their dreams are realized and what they failed to see when they were young. It is our responsibility to ensure that they experience all those and their life is complete.
Many times, when my parents had asked me some questions, I have actually answered back without patience. When my daughter asks me something, I have been very polite in answering. Now I realize how they would have felt at those moments. Let us realize that old age is a second childhood and just as we take care of our children, the same attention and same care needs to be given to our parents and elders . Rather than my dad saying thank you to me, I would want to say sorry for making him wait so long for this small dream. I do realize how much he has sacrificed for my sake and I will do my best to give the best possible attention to all their wishes.
Just because they are old does not mean that they will have to give up everything and keep sacrificing for their grandchildren also. They have wishes, too.
Take care of your parents.
THEY ARE PRECIOUS.

Dear Madhu Murthy sir,
It's really heartening to hear that the latest software is being introduced in our labs to meet the current trends.
I am working as a Technical Manager in CMC Ltd (TATA Group of Companies)..
Our group provides support to TRW Automotive Inc, which is one of the largest automotive suppliers, based in Detroit Michigan State USA.
TRW Automotive Inc basically build Safety systems for Automotives such as
Airbag control units, Antilock braking systems, also they provide fuel economy, low emission products and solutions.
One thing I would like to mention is that Students are exposed to more theory and less practicles but when they join companies they need more practicle knowledge. Its good if they have the talent to relate what they have learnt in theory to the work they are doing but its better if this kind of exposure is given to them during their studies so that they will work smart instead of hard because SMARTWORK is always appreciated rather than
HARDWORK.
I am very happy to see this new initiative taken by Mr.Bogineni sir, it really boosts students to put their 100% in their studies and will become more creative. Also would love to be part of this initiative, would be glad if my knowledge is of some use to the students of my own University.
Warm Regards

Dear Rajini,
Glad to receive your mail and to note its interesting contents. We are already using scilab, which is open source for the past several years for solving problems in mathematics, statistics,
OR, and numerical techniques.
Xilinx is used for VHDL progrmming on PC, and testing on the kits. Evaluation version of keil is being used for embedded system programming. I am trying to introduce slowly more softwares. I will definitely look into the evaluation versions, that you have suggested.
I am glad that you are doing comfortably in your work... I wonder where you r working...
Please give more details of your company, and your work.
Recently there is a spurt in the alumni activity with the election of Mr (Er) Bogineni
Chenchurama Naidu (BTech(ECE), 1975 batch, and my classmate) as the president of the
SVUCE Alumni association. With his encouragement and guidance, we have started a monthly e-magazine "SVUCE Engineer", in our website, www.svuce.org
. One of the features is, we are profiling a few of our old students in every issue. You may send your profile with a photograph, which we will publish in the next issue. Another activity we have started is weekly lectures. We are arranging a lecture every week, by an external resource person on varieties of topics to give a broad exposure to our students. Why dont you plan to give a lecture on your work in the near future? We will be glad if you can come down to Tirupati, or you can give a video lecture from your place.
I am requesting Bogineni to add your mail ID to the alumni list so you can also receive routine correspondence, regarding our alumni activities, which you may read and also contribute. with best wishes, madhumurthy

I am glad to be in touch with you. I keep remembering the final year projects that you used to expect from us.. With respect to that Iwould like to provide you some details about the software that we are using in industry and the knowledge of which would be beneficial to the students in coming up with best projects.
Labview (National Instruments) , Matlab(Mathworks) : These two are the software that we are using in Automotive domain where I am working now in simulating Braking systems,Engine control units before they are actually built / Manifactured.
Now the current trend is that they are simulating the electronic control units ,testing their performance ,build a prototype and then actually manufacture them.
They are also used in building embedded software.
The above software that I mentioned can be downloaded as evaluation versions and student versions are also provided.
I always wish to proudly tell that I am from S.V.U.College engineering..
Wishing to see our university as one of the best universities.

That's a great idea. Infact, executing the task itself is a flawless act.
I've got a small request.
I think if the students of the college are included in this work(not in accounts), like supervision and progress observation, they too will come to know of the values. And that will in turn inspire them to do something in their villages of towns respectively. When this turns into a chain reaction, a rapid development can be seen in a short span.
Thanking you…

Dear Prof. KL Narayana and all,
How are you?
I propose to open a fixed deposit for the funds (about Rs.4 lakhs) that are carried forward from the previous SVUCE Alumni Association's administration. Let us not touch this fund and keep it as an Endowment for the SVUCE Alumni Association.
I propose to raise the donations from the SVUCE Alumni on a case-by-case basis and execute the task transparently (e.g. fund to renovate SVUCE Hostel toilets and bath rooms). In my opinion, short term goals are more important than long term achievements.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Yes, the hour of the need is to identify from amongst young blood who have lot of go in them and durable patience like Sumantha Reddy etc and drive them into action. You must be like
Drona in Maha Bharat who had picked and chosen his students like Arjuna and invested his
Knowledge, Tact, Expertise and every thing he had in him to ultimately achieve his goal of establishing Dharma by winning great war 'Kurukshethra', no matter he remained on loosing side of the war.
You have rightly chosen the path for success and believing in slow and steady process like baby steps and I fully appreciate the approach. You may like to appreciate if I may suggest so, that we need to attack the problem multi pronged ie, A) Improving Discipline in the schools and colleges by strictly implementing the code of ethicks for teaching faculty, administration and students. B)
Secondly we must some how stop interference in the educational system by the Vested Interests,
Politicians and Business like running the institutions. C) Thirdly we must change the culture and attitude of the entire gamut of running the educational systems to finally realize our dreams of converting our schools and colleges in to another Stanford or MIT
I am feeling like Energised after going through your plans to achieve mega Aims. I would have loved to be with you to share a bit of responsibility, but for my not so good health conditions after my heart By-Pass surgery recently, am not able to be with you physically on 15 August
2010 at Ulavapadu for Gold Medal and other Awards presentation ceremony. I would like to sincerely convey my heart felt thanks fot the nice gesture of extending Invitation to the function at Ulavapadu. I also take this opportunity of wishing the occassion a very grand success and may
God bless you and bestow upon you the Strength, Courage and all the Support you need.
Mr S V K Gnaneswar was my class mate and a very good friend of mine and is presently in USA who I am sure would like to share with you in any aspect of your endevor.
Regards,
Col C R S Reddy(Retd)

Dear Col. CRS Reddy,
I am very glad to get your response and we fortune enough to have good-hearted alumni like
Er.Y. Sumanth Reddy.
Our focus is to kindle competitive spirit among the SVUCE budding engineers (students) and encourage them to incubate engineering innovative ideas into startup companies like Google,
Dell, and Microsoft. Then our SVUCE will flourish automatically like Stanford or MIT. We have to take baby steps, one at a time. Our goal should be - to make SVUCE a Technological
Hub with intelligent, innovative, hard working and Engilsh speaking Engineers for the entire world.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Bogineni Chenchu Rama Naidu

Dear Prasada Rao garu,
Thanks a lot for sending the brief about Mr Bogineni Chenchu Rama Naidu. It is quite an impressive one.
Dear Bogineni garu,
Congradulations for bringing out August journal of the 'Engineers' successfully. This journal has brought a lot of refreshing material from our Alumnus brothers like Mr Kasu Sekhar, particularly telugu poetry, anecdotes and jokes etc. Indeed one would like to eagerly wait and look forward to receiving the next issue. Wish you many more to come with more value addition and interest.
I also felt happy to read a frank and fear less statement of Mr Sumanth Reddy who was bold enough to speak few facts about our college, on hearing which I really started worrying for the falling standards. You have to do some thing to repair the damage at the right earnest. I congradulate Mr Sumanth Reddy for his bold ness.
Regards,
Col C R S Reddy (Retd)

Dear Ravi Teja,
Glad that you are volunteering. Immediate task is Convert the on line html version of the
June Issue into a single MS word Doc format. (Already available doc file is not properly

formated with margins and color). Then mail it to me. If it is OK, we will replace the existing one with that. Then , we can convert the same into pdf file, and zip file, which are trivial tasks.
If there is one more volunteer, then she can convert the doc file of the August issue into online html files, using exact formating as that of June issue, put them in a folder, zip and mail it to me.
I will check it and upload it. best wishes madhumurthy

Dear Sir,
Thank You. I really appreciate your support. I too believe in social networking and helping each other to grow their respective businesses. I just wanted to clarify that we are not a web hosting company. We are an Internet Marketing Company. We basically promote websites, sell services/products, generate leads, generate new prospects to a business online.
I offered web hosting services for svuce.org
for free because I already have a dedicated web server where I host all my websites. So i thought I could host the svuce.org
as well for free.
If you need hosting services definetly I can host your website in my server.

Also i take this opportunity to thank all the SVUCE alumni who helped for a cause that I initiated in the year 2007. One of our SVUCE student (Name:Guru Charan) suffered from kidney failure and was in serious condition. When I communicated the same to our Alumni many people came forward and donated. I was able to raise Rs. 4,64,615 with in a span of one week from our Aumni as well as from other sources. You can see the names of the people as well the amount they donated in this link. http://www.life-india.org/kidney-failure.html
I thank each and every one once again who came forward generously to help for a life saving cause.
Please let me know if you need any further details.
