Sculpture Book Report
This book report will have three parts:
1. A written book report
2. Sculpture Creation
3. Oral Presentation
1. Sculpture - Create a sculpture of an important character from your novel. Use any combination
of soap, wood, clay, sticks, wire, stones, Lego, popsicle sticks, tooth picks, pipe cleaners, tin cans,
play dough, paper mâché, beads, marbles, moon sand, Styrofoam, sticky tack, cloth, yarn, string,
old toy pieces, cardboard, or any other object. Be creative! Also attach a name tag that includes
title of book, name of character, and the name of the artist.
2. Written Book Report
Part 1: Background Information
The first few paragraphs of your written book report should include:
- the title of the book
- author of the book
- main characters — names, relationships, etc.
- setting of the book — where and what time of year
This information should be written in a well organized paragraph.
Part 2: Summary
The summary should be composed of a brief explanation of the plot, be sure to include the
beginning, middle, and end of the book. This should include the exposition, conflict, rising action,
climax, and resolution etc. Remember to include paragraphs in your writing. Only include
important information.
Part 3: Sculpture Explanation
Write some well organized paragraphs explaining the sculpture you have created. Be sure to
include:
a. Who is the character you have sculpted?
b. What steps did you take sculpting your character and how much time you spent?
c. Why did you choose this character?
d. Describe the character in detail
e. How does this character fit into the book?
Part 4: Other Requirements
Cover page – Include a cover page with the following:
-A picture from a scene of the book (hand drawn)
(near top)
-Title and Authors name
(near bottom)
-Your Name, Number, Grade, Date, Teachers name

Bibliography
The report must be written in your own words. Include a biography using MLA Citation which is
explained below.
Okuda, Michael, and Denise Okuda. (author’s last name first, if there is more authors, you do not
write the 2nd, 3rd etc. authors last names first. End the authors with a period) Star Trek
Chronology: The History of the Future. (The title is underlined and ends in a period) New York,
New York: (The city where the book was published followed by the province or state then type in a
colon) Pocket Books,(The name of the publisher followed by a comma) 1993. (The year the book
was published followed by a period)
All pages must be neatly stapled together. Only use one staple and put it in the top left corner of
the page.
Typing requirements: printed in black ink, left justified, Arial size 12 font, lower case unless upper
case is required.
******Make sure that you complete a rough and good copy. Your work must be proofread by at
least one adult.***** The rough draft must be handed in. It can be stapled to the back of your
report. Please get adults to proofread in blue ink and students in red ink. If you use different
colours please specify on top of the rough draft. Always proofread before you get an adult to.
Also write the name of the person or people who proofread your report at the top of the page.
