FINANCIAL COORDINATOR
EXECUTIVE EDUCATION

The UCT Graduate School of Business invites applications for the above position from candidates with
strong financial accounting skills up to balance sheet, proficiency in MS Excel and strong inter-relationship
skills. Support management in meeting/exceeding the overall objectives of the GSB by ensuring that all
accounting transactions are accurately recorded on a daily basis and that meaningful financial and
management reporting is provided. The incumbent will be required to monitor and report on financial
performance of customised and open programmes, be responsible for monitoring the financial profitability
of open and customised programmes and perform the primary financial functions for the Exec Ed Unit. In
addition the incumbent will ensure highlighting of profit margins on programmes and developing costs for
potential customised business.
Requirements include:
 recognised three-year accounting degree/diploma with at least two years’ experience or a minimum of
six year’s relevant experience
 full financial accounting skills up to balance sheet
 highly motivated, proactive self-starter requiring minimal supervision
 computer literacy (MS Excel and SAP/ERP experience essential)
Responsibilities:
 Monitor expenses, reconcile with budgets and report on a monthly basis, ensuring revenue and
expenses are allocated to the correct cost
centres/internal orders
 Calculate profit margins and break-even points for each project
 Establish cost effectiveness through monitoring and reporting of expenses
 Maintain budgets and update expenses incurred related to budget items
 Responsible for completing and follow-up on contracts, HR forms, invoices for new appointments for
course directors and lecturers
 Liaise with GSB and UCT Finance Departments, regarding lecturers payments and outstanding invoices
 Maintain accounting hierarchy to ensure meaningful reporting
 Reconciliation and reporting for year-end purposes and accruals
 Assist with compilation of annual budget and forecasting
 Assisting with ‘in-company’ contract quotes and invoicing
 Initiate and process the necessary inter/intra-departmental and inter-company journals
 Create contribution sheets and costing for potential customised business
 Ensure margins are managed on programmes
 Responsible for coordinating Exec Ed debt follow up, collection and reporting together with project
coordinators and GSB Finance Department
 Attend monthly debtors meetings
 Maintain relationships – GSB debtors’ department relating to client debt collection
 Administer purchase cards
 Completion of all SAP financial forms for processing by GSB Finance department
 Maintain an accurate finance filing system
 Monitor and ensure accuracy of invoices from service providers
 Reconcile SAP and Finance Reports
 Calculate and collate financial information for corporate clients
 Maintain records of all suppliers and faculty contact details (for finance use only)

Liaise with GSB and UCT service suppliers with regard to invoicing and payments
Source best prices with suppliers
Check that cancelled venues are not charged
Ensure Exec Ed Admin Assistants keep stock sheets
The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is between R220 907 and R259 864.
