The Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Bertha Centre is housed at the UCT

Graduate School of Business and was established in 2011 in partnership with the Bertha Foundation as the first centre of excellence in social innovation in Africa. As a social innovation catalyst, we invoke the social innovation capability in people and organisations to co-create relevant innovative solutions and action that will lead to an inclusive and just world. It does this through both systemic approaches as well as rooted, on the ground work. We achieve this through:

Academia: education, research and publishing

Networks: events, dialogue, connections

Action: practical initiatives that seek to challenge the roots, practices and policies in the key sectors of health, education, finance and entrepreneurship, and to understand eco-systems and scaling

Being located in Africa gives us rich context to challenge and learn, and to be smart and adaptable.
