ONGRATULATIONS to our newly ordained priest Fr.
Phil Cunnah who was ordained here at the Cathedral
on Saturday 25th July, the feast of St. James. I am delighted
that he has been appointed as the new assistant priest here
at the Cathedral and will take up his appointment on the
5th September. Pease do keep Fr. Phil in your prayers.
F
R. JAMES Sadly, we say farewell to Fr. James who will
be leaving the Cathedral this coming week and will be
taking up his new appointment at Sacred Heart Church
from next weekend. At some point we shall be having a
collection for him in thanksgiving for his work here at the
Cathedral, and will invite him back to celebrate a Mass of
Thanksgiving.

kindly agreed to celebrate midweek Mass at Osmotherley
village. However, from this coming week until further
notice, midweek Mass will be on a Thursday at 12.30pm

OMELESS AT THE JOHN PAUL CENTRE I have been
asked to organise on behalf of the Justice & Peace
Group a collection of small toiletries and food items (in
cans or vacuum-packed, not fresh) needed for the homeless
at the John Paul Centre. I propose that we do that over the
weekend of 8th/9th August. Any help and donations would
be greatly appreciated.
P
ILGRIMAGE TO THE SHRINE OF OUR LADY at Mount
Grace to celebrate the Assumption of Our Lady on
Sunday 16th August at 3pm. This is also the day we will
celebrate the feast of the Assumption which will be at our
normal Mass times over the weekend. Also, can you help?
Would you be willing to bake cakes, sausage rolls etc. for
the Assumption Pilgrimage on the 16th August? They can be
brought to the Cathedral anytime on Saturday 15th August,
or on the Sunday morning, or if your parish is close you
could take them to the Shrine on Saturday afternoon. The
community are also looking for volunteers to help with
hospitality on the day. If you can help in any way please let
me know. Many hands make light work!
I
NSPIRATIONAL DAY for Ministers of the Word and
Holy Communion in Scarborough on Saturday 12th
September for a day of spiritual nourishment. A list is in the
porch and if you require transport by coach, please give £10
deposit to Paul Bowen, which will be refunded to you in full
on the day. However, if you decide not to go there will be no
refund. In recent years we have had many who put their
names down, then at the last minute don’t go. Transport,
food and speakers have been arranged. I hope you
understand the reason why I am doing this and I am more
than happy to pay this fee. Many thanks.
God Bless: Frs. Gerard, Gerry, James & Rev. Ken
