Layers in Time 4th European Student Conference on Objects Conservation Budapest, Hungary, 17-18 April 2015 Call for papers The conference organisers invite papers on active and preventive conservation of objects in the fields of the fine arts, ethnography and archaeology. Preference will be given to presentations about modern art objects in which the materials and techniques used differ from those found traditionally. Bearing in mind the 'Layers in time' theme, presentations dealing with re-conservation of objects already restored earlier on will also be welcome. The chemicals and treatment methods used in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s were not always recorded precisely in the conservation documentation of the day. For this reason, it is essential that additional information emerging on these be shared for the benefit of conservators now and in the future. As at previous student conferences, those papers which emphasise a critical approach to work processes, which deal with the methodology of investigation, and which address ethical questions will be especially favoured. Presentations of case-study research should if possible focus on one groundbreaking aspect and make reference to a wider context. Interdisciplinary working groups will be strongly encouraged. Presentations should be coherently argued and must offer full transparency in their exposition of decision-making process. The official language of the conference will be English. All papers should be written and presented in English. Each oral presentation will be limited to a maximum duration of 15 minutes. The conference venue will be at the Hungarian National Museum, in the 'historic centre' of Budapest. Abstract of papers should be submitted at the homepage http:// studentconference2015.hu/ by the registration process and should reach the conference organisers by 01 January 2015 Entries should include the following: - The title of the paper - The full name(s) of the student(s) taking part in the project, along with the name of the semester of study and the name of the university/academy - The full postal address and e-mail address of the principal author - An abstract or summary of no more than 150 words - One representative picture of good quality (at least 300 dpi, jpg), but no charts or tables please Authors will be told whether their entries have been accepted by the end of January 2015 at the latest.
