** TA positions available due to unfilled positions ** DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY, ANTHROPOLOGY & CRIMINOLOGY NOTICE RE: TEACHING ASSISTANT (TA) POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR WINTER 2016 TERM In accordance with Article 12:01 of the CUPE 4580 Collective Agreement the Department of Sociology, Anthropology & Criminology invites applications for TA positions for the Winter 2016 term as follows: Course Expected Duties 48-110-01 (Soulliere) Foundations of Social Life Proctoring exams as needed by the department. Other duties as agreed with the course instructor (Form 1). Administration of student evaluation of teaching. Grading two assignments for approx. 50 students. Recording of grades on Blackboard. Managing online discussions through Blackboard. Student assistance through office hours (1 hour/ week) 48-329-01 (Arnold) Contemporary Families Proctoring exams as needed by the department. Other duties as agreed with the course instructor (Form 1). Administration of student evaluation of teaching. Grade exams, assignments, and term papers. Assist students with any difficulties they may have. 48-301-01 (Cradock) Sociology of Childhood Proctoring exams as needed by the department. Other duties as agreed with the course instructor (Form 1). Administration of student evaluation of teaching. Preferred Eligibility Requirements # of positions Student in 3rd or 4th year. Preferably a sociology, criminology or family major. Has major ave. of 75% or above. Has taken 48110 with a final grade of 75% or above. Familiar with Blackboard or quick learner. 1 Completed course with at least a B+, or have completed closely related courses with similar or higher standing. Or have experience as a TA in other courses. 1 Must have completed 391, or 373, or 329, with a minimum 78% average. 1 Duration for above position; January 4, 2016 – April 30, 2016. (6) TA positions for 100 hours total. Eligibility requirements: TA appointments shall be offered to qualified applicants in accordance with the criteria specified in Article 12:04 of the CUPE 4580 Collective Agreement. Teaching Assistants cannot be employed for more that 100 hours per semester total. If you already hold or have applied for another TA position (in this or another department), Your total combined hours for all TA appointments held in all departments cannot exceed 100 hours.
