What is your idea of an Art Gallery? Some spacious uninviting room
where you think everyone else there is more knowledgeable than you.
Think outside the box, imagine yourself looking at a sea view,
wondering around spacious lush gardens and enjoying the sparkle of a
fresh blue pool. Now you don’t have to imagine it, this is the backdrop
for the newest gallery just opened in Coral Bay by Yvonne Broekman.
Yvonne, born in Amsterdam, has lived in Cyprus for five years, having
been involved with her husbands business; she has been inspired by her
new home in Coral Bay and has now opened her garden to the public.
Welcome to Coral Hill Gallery where Yvonne features the works of
different Artists each month. She says, ‘I love my garden and the view it
offers and I wanted to offer something back to the community which I
love and feel a big part of so what a lovely setting to show off local art.
No hot galleries during the summer months, just a gathering of like
minded people who enjoy the artistic inspirations of the many talented
people Cyprus seems to attract. You are ALL invited to my official
opening on Sunday May 15th from 1 pm, come and enjoy a glass of wine
or cold drink, relax in the ambient LIVE music which will be played and
marvel over the works of my first exhibitor, JoepKlinkenbijl, there will
be the opportunity to chat with artist and find out what inspires his
emotions through his paintings. Joep of Rock FM fame, with his Double
Dutch show, has been painting for over fifteen years. His work can be
found Island Wide and his all familiar abstract style is easily
recognised.” The first exhibition runs from 15th to 28th May.
Yvonne says that many galleries take high commissions but she is not
going to work that way. Anyone who is interested in organizing an
exhibition at Coral Hill Gallery will be pleasantly surprised by her
terms. This is a wonderful alternative. She is always looking for new
talent and is happy to exhibit, not only paintings but sculptures. What
better way to see a piece of sculpture set amidst beautiful floral gardens
with a crystal clear swimming pool adding to the ambience, with the
ocean as the backdrop, true bliss.
Those who have met Yvonne will know that her warmth, humour and
kind personality will be a great asset to any exhibitor and she welcomes
everyone to her home on weekdays 10-1 and 3-6 and weekends from
10am till 6 pm. She says, “My home gardens are so beautiful I don’t
need to travel the area looking for venues, Art is all around you and I
feel so happy at the prospect of spending my time here. If an exhibitor
wishes to sit in my garden and paint during their exhibition they are
most welcome to, it will be interesting for the general public to see this.
I will be surrounded by man made art and also Natures Architecture, the
two combinations should please any visitor and I look forward to
meeting you all, especially on my opening day, please come along and
have a great relaxing day at my open art gallery under a beautiful sky.”
Coral Hill Gallery can be found just off the Coral Bay Coast road. Take
the right hand turn, (coming from Paphos) signposted Akoursos, just
before you reach Hearns. The gallery is two minutes up the road on the
