20 th Annual MSA Ancient Rangers Tournament will be held Sat and Sun 8-9 Sept 2012 at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. A lot of fun and a number of people look forward to this weekend the whole year! There will be five brackets this year. 30 and over Mens (two players allowed 28-29) 40 and over Mens (two players allowed 36-39) 45 and over Mens (3 players 41-44) 50 and over Mens (number of underage players 44-49 yet to be determined) 30 and over Womens (two players allowed 28-29) Age of player is their birthday as of 30 Dec 2012. Note - I am willing to entertain the possibility of expanding the Women’s age bracket if this could potentially lead to enough teams for two brackets: Competitive and Recreational If any age bracket gets a high number of teams we may split the bracket into A and B divisions. Like last year the tourney is an MSA (Minnesota Soccer Association) sponsored event. The MSA is the governing body of USSF-affiliated adult soccer in MN. Member leagues include Minnesota Amateur Soccer League (MASL), Minnesota Recreational Soccer League (MRSL), Minnesota Women's Soccer League (MWSL), Southern Minnesota Adult Soccer League (SMASA) and Duluth Amateur Soccer League (DASL). The benefits of this being an MSA sponsored event include: - Player accident insurance for games over the weekend (this was taken advantage of by a few players last year) - There will be more food variety. The fruits, etc., were very popular last year - On-site trainer - Free massages available at the pavilion - Organized kids activities (details to follow) Price per team for the tournament will be 555 $ this year. The field prices remained the same but referee prices went up a little. This includes the MSA benefits noted above. Checks are due by 1 Aug 2012. If a team has not paid by 1 Aug 2011 they will not be allowed to participate unless adding that team ends up with an even number of teams in a bracket. Any checks after this date, if accepted, will need to be 605$. I would like to ask for three things: (1) If you plan to place a team please me send an e mail saying so and for which bracket. And I can add you to the e mail follow up list. davidalbrecht1964a@gmail.com (2) The final reservation for teams is accomplished by sending me a check (on check put team name and age bracket) for the $555 (before 1 Aug). I’ll provide mailing address as requested. (3) By 1 Sept 2012 I will need every team manager to email me and MSA President Ben O'Brien ( president@mnsoccer.org ) a team roster which includes players' names, date of birth and email addresses. This is necessary so that they cal be eligible for the injury insurance Highlights: (A) Free hot dogs, soda, bottled water, chips, fruit, other food and water all day Sat and first part of the day Sun till we run out. (B) Free massages and on site trainer (C) The last two years we had two professional tournament photographers who put the photos available for all on a web site: http://www.bobspartyroom.com/ART2009/ http://www.bobspartyroom.com/ART2010/ and http://www.bobspartyroom.com/ART2011 This was quite popular so I am planning to do this again (D) Any red cards, fighting, significant misconduct and/or referee harassment – that player needs to leave the NSC for the remainder of the weekend. Recreational tourney that behavior is not necessary. Team manager for that player is responsible for their behavior and responsible for making sure they leave the facility after the red card. (E) I plan to maintain a list of available players. So teams that know ahead of time that they will need players can contact me and I can try to hook them up. First come first served. If you are in this category let me know. (F) We will have T shirts and mugs again. Will e mail more about that later to interested parties. (G) Each team gets minimum of 3 games, more for teams that advance. 35 minute halves. All ties end with shootout. Over 40 and higher no slide tackles. Substitute on the fly – when player leaves field at 1/2 field on the team’s side next player can come in - like hockey. (H) I am trying to get a bar / tavern sponsor. Free beer, coupons at a local place, etc. I will let you know how that progresses Please let me know if any questions.
