Contract Opportunity: Technical Director of House League Program Overview Bays United is looking for a contractor to fill the position of Technical Director – House League. This senior leadership position is responsible for Bay United’s technical development of the in-house player base (U6-U11 divisions). Core to the role is the full implementation of the principles of Soccer Canada’s Long Term Player Development model (LTPD) as it pertains to coaches and players. Philosophically, Bays is looking for leadership that provides the optimum balance of fun and learning in an environment that focuses on skill development and sportsmanship over ‘winning’ at this early stage. This position reports directly to the Chair of the Coaching Committee. Duties and Responsibilities Actively promote the technical vision and underlying philosophy as outlined in the Club’s guidelines and policies. Conduct assessments at the beginning of each season to enable the creation of balanced teams. Recruit and train coaches through LTPD based clinics and coaching lesson plans. Provide on-site leadership to coaches (U6-U11) on Saturday mornings. Recruit and delegate responsibilities to staff coaches that will assist with Saturday morning games, academies, spring leagues & summer camps. Build partnerships with external agencies such as LISA and BC Soccer. Design, develop and implement academies, spring break camps, spring leagues and summer camps. Assist in the technical development of youth players (U12 –U18) as requested by the YouthLevel Technical Director. Manage an annual house league TD budget and participate in the preparation of that budget. Provide a monthly report to the Board regarding activities and outcomes. Identify challenges, opportunities and paths forward and report to the Coaching Committee regarding those matters. Ensure programs are delivered in accordance with the direction of the Board and Coaching Committee. Competencies and Skills Required Minimum certification: B Licence Provincial. Minimum of five years experience in a similar youth soccer leadership role. Strong organizing / admin abilities required. Working knowledge of the Canadian Long Term Player Development model and Wellness to the World Cup framework. Experience with and a passion for the education and development of coaches and players. Strong communications skills and an ability to convey technical knowledge in a simple and understandable way. The ability to command and inspire the attention of 30-40 young players in a clinic setting. Provide humour and creativity in the leadership direction for both coaches and players. A cooperative team player, with an ability to operate as part of an integrated management team and respond to the dynamic needs and challenges of a volunteer-based organization.
