Key messages: Alumni share their most memorable moments of their AIESEC careers, how they lived their AIESEC experiences at their times not only happiest memories but saddest ones as well so delegates understand they will most probably face same challenges but what matters at the end of the day is the experience they are getting for their personal development in life. Most importantly Alumni shall focus on the impact AIESEC had on them during their involvement in the organization and how they are actually using or capitalizing on it in their social and professional life. 1-Introduction With a very short Roll Call leading by the Chair of the conference, Habib EWANE, introduces the Session Responsible and gives him the opportunity to deliver it. Then Wilfred TCHASSE, stared by welcome everybody, reminded the objectives of the session and welcome Alumni on stage. 2-Alumni talks Each Alumnus introduces himself/herself and shares memories about his/her time in AIESEC. Wilfred TCHASSE invited each of them to deliver his/her speech. Mr. Jacques NDJAMBA MBELEK was the first. What we should keep is that he joint AIESEC in 1991 at ESSEC (University of Douala) when he was 21 year old. He occupied his first leadership position as Local Committee Vice President Finance the same year and the next term, he attended the National Bureau as Vice President Finance and Administration. During the mandate 1994-1995, he was elected as National President of AIESEC Cameroon. The big memorable event he and his team mates organised was the African Congress in 1995 here in Cameroon. 18 African countries were involved and other counties as guests for a total of 200 delegates. Five ministers of the Republic of Cameroon and many General Managers of Companies in Cameroon attend the conference, also with the footballer Roger MILLA as special guest. At the end of the conference, they received a Letter of Congratulation from the President of the Republic of Cameroon. He said that they were the first generation of leaders in AIESEC Cameroon who succeeded involving in AIESEC activities companies like PriceWaterHouse Coopers, Brasseries du Cameroun, Nestle Cameroun, Guiness Cameroon S.A, and also the building of a Sponsor Group and a National Board of Advisors. AIESEC gave him opportunities to go to many countries around the world and today it remain the record such as even his company has not gave him this numbers of travelling opportunities. He is now Associates in Cameroon Audit Conseil and he realized that many professional tools useful for Managers as him today, AIESEC has permitted him to use before and today it is easier for him to plan with, to assess, track and review with and also to deliver. He is not feeling happy by what has happened after him till date because the stage of performance is under what he left. He recommended us to boost the situation and he promised his support and endorsement for future actions. From him we should note that AIESEC is a world of opportunities and an organisation based on exchange. We should do our best to seize them and to develop ourselves Mr. Jeremi AKOMIAN, he is an Ivorian. He has never played leadership role during his AIESEC Experience. He joined the organisation in 2004 trough his wife and he was involved as Team Members mainly for fund raising. He has brought a lot of in AIESEC Cote d’Ivoire in terms of raising, and training (Team Building, Team motivation, Team Management). In 2006 he decided to go on exchange and the target was with AIESEC in Cameroon. After his matching with MTN Cameroon Ltd, by the trip KQ 740, on July 5, 23006 he arrived in Douala-Cameroon. They started a new life in what he called now “My second Nation”. He met, any people within this company (MTN) and are living diversity, occupying many challenging positions. Today he is Technical Manager of the Human Resources Department, this position has permitted him to train and educate workers in the company in many countries where MTN is based and recently he was in the Head Quarter of the Company in South Africa to train workers on new tools. For him we can learn that AIESEC is a school of life, AIESEC is a dream and we should dream, also that leadership is not a position and everyone is a leader and can contribute in AIESEC as much as possible if getting involved. Mr. Kissinger MINSILI joined AIESEC in 2000 and has worked enough with the Local President of AIESEC Douala, Hubert FODOP. When working with the partner organization ADRH APAVE, he was selected and allocated to the Human Resources Department where he worked later full time and today he is the Human Resources Deputy Manager at PERENCO Cameroon. So, AIESEC has given him the opportunity to do what was aligned to his academic course, later to get exposed to the professional milieu and later to be selected to work in the management of people which is what he learnt at school. He said we should know that AIESEC is developing Top talent and for this reason we should be able to deliver the promises of AIESEC. And that’s why we should note that if we want people to continuous believe in AIESEC, we should pressure ourselves for performance and later we will have rewards and recognition for the job we did. Mr. Christian EYOUP has joined AIESEC Douala in 2006 and get involved directly in the raising campaign of African Exchange and Leadership Development Seminar (AFROXLDS) ,Douala and Limbe 200-28 March 2006. This seminar was a great success for all facilitators, corporate and noncorporate, guests and delegates from 22 countries worldwide. This was the one of the main step of his Taking Responsibility stage of the Flow AIESEC Experience. Later he has decided to go on exchange and the matching was done with AIESEC Ghana as the host Local Committee. Hi internship was renewing on the request of the company in terms of duration. That’s why he spent 18 months there for the internship, leaving in this new milieu far from his friends, from his family but closed to his second family AIESEC. Today, he is back to Cameroon since least than 2 months and he is in charge of Research and Strategy at UBA, (a new Bank in Cameroon since 2007). For him, we should keep in mind that in AIESEC every body will spend his money, his time, his energy and so on, but we should know that all of these have a return on investment and we are the only responsible of the follow up of this process. Mr. Joseph EVEGA MVOGO. He is one of the founder members of AIESEC Cameroon. He was part of the pioneers in 1985 at The University of Yaoundé. He said, people were coming from Europe and were there to present the organisation AIESEC at that time. As he said those guys have realized that they were really motivated there in Yaoundé and that’s why they decided to start there with the first group of students which later became the official extension with AIESEC in Germany as Coach Country till the year 1988 where we have our full member status. Generally speaking he didn’t occupied leadership role specifically but he was there every time when AIESEC Cameroon was in activity. For him as Teacher, the only and unique thing he wants us to keep is that firstly we should work and work hard everywhere we are and everywhere we go. Mr. Laurent TETANG. He started by presenting is mentor who is Mr. Jacques NDJAMBA MBELEK present here. He knows AIESEC in 1994 where he was at second year at the ESSEC, University of Douala and the first contact was through documents about AIESEC. During the African Congress organized by Cameroon in 1995 he was acting as team member. He attended the leadership role in 1997 as Project Director. He failed to attend the Local Committee President position of AIESEC Douala in 1998 and decided to found the SID (Society fore International Development) where he worked a lot before having a job. For him, we should keep in mind that AIESEC is non-politic but there is politic in the way AIESEC is doing sometime and in particular during elections. And also that in AIESEC if you want information, you need to find them sometime by yourself rather than waiting. Mr. Jean Louis SHUDZEKA. He joint AIESEC in 2000 in Buea. He starts his leadership position there and attends the National Bureau as Vice President External Relations, term 2004-2005. After what he went in internship, came back and decided to help his community. Today he is the PRESIDENT of NAVTI FOUNDATION, CAMEROON an NGO which mission is to provide developmental activities to the underprivileged in a community in Education, Health and Rural Development. What we should remember from him is that we need to give back what AIESEC give us and also that our community needs us to act as change agents. 3-Open space: Q&A Delegates asked questions to Alumni and they replied. Questions asked were focusing on comparison of present situation and past one, on trends of today that we should capitalize on. According to the delegates fund raising is very difficult today than ever. Government is not very receptive about youth organisations today, and partnership with private became a very challenging issue. They want Alumni to given them some tips to approach companies and also to help them with new strategy for fund raising. Mr. Jacques NDJAMBA and other Alumni replied firstly by stressing on the professionalism as required criteria for all the process of fund raising and partnership. He recommended us to never present ourselves as students, but as leaders who are running the organisation AIESEC. By taking his case, he makes us understand that CEO, Directors, or Managers are very busy so we should present what is useful only. The nest feed back was on the relationship management between AIESEC and other Organisations/Companies. A good relationship management and good presentation skills are keys for sustainable partnership according to him. 4-Conclusion & debriefing Here the MCP thanked all Alumni for their coming and sharing and emphasizes on what we can learn out of this Alumni sharing session. He invited alumni to a dinner. Delegates addressed their good byes to Alumni and expressed their thanks. 5-Alumni Dinner This was a very short moment of reconnection between alumni present at this Alumni sharing Session. These are last recommendations we received from them: -Build the database – Develop a Strategy to involve them in AIESEC activities- Develop activities/projects that can interest them or their Organisations/Companies.
