Design and Analysis static and thermal stress on a Shell and tube heat exchanger Final year project – 8th Semester Designed a 3D model of a industrial type shell and tube heat exchanger typically made to transfer heat between chemicals and water. With certain boundary conditions performed the static stress analysis occurring due to heat transfer between the fluids. From this was able to determine the point of maximum stress in the heat exchanger and proposed changes to the structure. With same boundary conditions fluid analysis was also performed and from this was able to determine exact increase in heat transfer coefficient of fluid due to presence of baffles in the structure.
