Talk about events at the beg, in the middle & end of the-story, scribe brief notes on a simple plan. Discuss the 'problem' & the reappearance of the 'wolf’. Pairs sequence them & stick them on paper in the correct order. Differentiate by number of strips & degree of reading difficulty. S group: role play 'Pizza Hut'. C group: Sentences for eg, Here is the pizza. The pizza ran away. Look at the bears. The wolf ate the pizza. Chil'n to support each other in reading sentences & arranging in the correct order. Then stick in bks. Chil'n to write beginning part of the story. Work in bks. Throughout wk to work with individual chil'n from the C grp to tape re-telling of story from story maps. S grp to role play 'Pizza Hut'. 2 chil'n to read .their story beginnings. (Discuss ideas for changing the beginning of the story, eg little girl hungry, wants a biscuit; mommy shopping, buys a doughnut.) Wednesday PIP's Step 5: to blend to read words containing consonant clusters. Adapt Cube Game, game I, p 30 & play on whiteboards. As for Tuesday: write the middle of the story. Sustained Writing: Share reading The Gingerbread Man, plot events on a simple plan. Chil' to draw a story map for The Gingerbread Man. Share reading 'The Gingerbread Man', discuss & compare to 'The Runaway Pizza'. Refer to the 'Pizza' story chart & look at the pattern of the 2 stories. PIP's Step 5: to blend to read words containing consonant clusters. Play Bingo, game 1. H, P, S, T groups, to copy & complete 4 sentences using consonant clusters. Process as for Tuesday: write end of story. Chil 'n will do activities related to spellings, work on initial sounds, segmenting & blending, onset & rime, flash cards etc. In 'spare moments' chil'n uom the P grp to practice key board skills by writing out the beg of their story using 'Word'. T grp to role play C grp using Clicker to create word bank & write story sentences. I child from T, S, grps to read their completed stories. Suggest vocab to make stories more exciting. 'Pizza Hut'.
