She was the youngest daughter of William Coltman 1775 and his wife Frances Mallors. Frances Coltman was born on Jun 8 1821 in High Wycombe and was baptised there on Jul 6 1821 at All Saints. Frances née Coltman died in childbirth, it is assumed, aged 26, on March 19 1848 in Birchfield. Microsoft William’s father, Thomas, was mentioned in Wrightsons Directory of Birmingham 1818 as a brass founder and lamp manufacturer in Park Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire. William’s brothers also worked in this occupation, with two of them, John and Joseph, moving to Oxford Street in London by 1861 to make brass lamps. Birmingham Directories indicate that many Abbotts worked here, and show that William’s father in law Richard Truman also worked as a brass founder. William’s mother was shown as a proprietor of houses, indicating that they were an affluent family. 1841 Thomas Abbot HO 107/980/3 page 10 district 29 Rock Lane, Handsworth, Birmingham, Warwickshire William shared a house with the future husband of his sister, Matilda, in 1841. 1841 William Abbott HO 107/1145/3 page 24, district 54.
