Suggested dress guidelines for prom:
In an effort to create a dignified event that will exemplify the standards upheld at North
Buncombe High School, students and parents are requested to select prom attire using
guidelines that display appropriate dress. Tuxedos or suits are required of young men,
with no jeans, shorts, sagging pants, or tennis shoes. For the young ladies, please select
dresses that provide proper coverage. We request no 2 piece dresses or extremely low
cut designs in the front or back of the dress. A backless dress will be acceptable only
above the waistline. We do want to leave dress selection to the best judgment of the
students and their parents; however, if you are unsure of the acceptability of your chosen
dress, please bring a picture of the dress, preferably on the student, to one of the
administrators or Mrs. Morton. We would prefer to have prior approval over having to
send someone home on prom night.
If you are bringing a guest that is a non North Buncombe High School student, you need
to share this information with them before they purchase their dress or tuxedo.
